[redacted] was seen in our office for contraceptive counseling on 5/12/She called our office regarding her bill she received from us on 8/26/16, she stated she called her insurance company and was told the reason why she got a bill was due to incorrect billingShe suggested that we bill her insurance as a general office visit, but the patient was lacking knowledge that there is always a reason otherwise diagnosis accompanying the visitThe patient made an appointment specifically to discuss birth control pills, and she was billed accordinglyThe claim was submitted with the office visit code for a new patient and the diagnosis code Z(Encounter for surveillance of contraceptive pills)We received a response from the insurance company, which states the patient is responsible for the contraceptive visit due to deductiblesWe called the insurance company to confirm the patient's benefits for contraceptive visitThe insurance company verified that the patient is in fact responsible for her deductiblesSubsequently, we called the patient herself to inform about her responsibility, The next day, the patient called our office to make a payment explaining that this time she spoke with a different representative who told her deductibles apply to contraceptive counseling.Regards,Lena B [redacted]
