Review: I live in Canada but I was visiting New York and my cell phone broke. On Sep ** 2013, I went into the store to buy a new cell phone. I told the sales associate that I needed a cell phone that was unlocked and that would work on a frequency of 1700 (my wireless carrier in Canada uses a frequency of 1700). I chose the Blackberry Curve 8310. The sales associate told me that it's $80 and they would unlock it for me. He also said he would check if it works with a frequency of 1700. After a few minutes, he told me that he had checked and it does work with 1700. Then they unlocked the phone for me. At checkout, I again asked the sales associate to make sure it would work with 1700 and he again said yes. I was surprised that the bill came to $108 when I was about to pay. The sales associate told me that they charge $20 for unlocking. He didn't mention this before and made me believe I would have an unlocked phone for $80. At this point, they had already unlocked the phone for me so I had no choice but to pay. When I got back to Canada the next day, the cell phone stopped working. I went online and checked that the phone was not compatible with 1700 (It's easy to check, search on [redacted] for blackberry 8310 specs gives dozens of websites telling you that the phone only works with frequencies of 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900. Not even one website says it works at 1700). Moreover, when I opened up the back cover and removed the battery, I found that the phone is heavily scratched in that area. So, they have replaced the outer housing and glass screen of a "used" phone and sold it to me as a "new" phone. Never did the sales associate mention that it was a "used" or "refurbished" phone. Now, I basically have a $108 used phone that I can't use at all. I have tried several times to contact the business through the phone numbers listed on the internet, but I have been unable to reach them.Desired Settlement: The business needs to take their phone back (and they should pay for return shipping from Canada to New York) and give me full refund of USD $108.
