I called Wireless Talk Communications in Buford, Georgia who are an authorized dealer for Boost to inquire about a wireless hotspot device as an upgrade to my old one. I spoke to a Mr. Kim there who said he had it, and it cost $49.99. I went to the store and Mr. Kim brought the device to the counter for me to pay for it. He put some numbers in a hand-held calculator (evidently he doesn't use a cash register) and showed it to me. The total was $77.99. When I asked him why so much, he said it was because of taxes. I told him sales taxes are not that much. He insisted that I must pay the $77.99 because of taxes. I asked him if I could borrow his calculator. I put in the $49.99 plus 6% for Gwinnett county ($3.00) in the calculator which came to a total $52.99. When I showed him the total on the calculator, he became angry and belligerent. He finally admitted that he had added $25 to the total for an "activation fee." When I asked him why he didn't tell me about the activation fee over the phone, he started screaming and told me to get out of the store. I left the store and called Boost directly and purchased the device for $49.99 plus tax which they sent to me in the mail. There was no "activation fee" because I am already a customer.
It seems to me that Mr. Kim is tricking unsuspecting customers into paying additional fees which he calls taxes. He may have taken advantage of a lot of customers by doing this. Stay away from this location unless you want to get ripped off. If I could give it no stars, I would. There are plenty of legitimate wireless dealers to do business with locally.
