On 6/27, I contacted Winter Engine to request an inspection of a faulty generatorThey said they would find a time & return my callOn 6/& 6/28, Winter called but did not leave messagesOn 6/29, I called Winter who said that a service tech was available, but they would not give a time frame, only call aheadWhen requested, they would not give an estimate for the inspection
On 6/29, the tech did not call ahead, but called at 4:53pm from my drivewayAfter verifying that the generator would not start, he held a tablet out for me to sign & said he needed my signature to inspect the generatorI signedOnce he started the inspection, he said that he would let me know when he had diagnosed the problemAfter minutes, he had not returned and I went to ask what was wrong, only to find that he was already halfway through fixing it! He had NOT received my approvalWhen I asked how much the repair would cost, he remarked, "I don't know; not much." He completed the wor
My generator quit so I called WintersThey sent a "tech" to look at itHe said it's too cold that's why it wont startI said it was degrees the day it wouldn't startHe replaced the spark plugs ( later found that they weren't even the same brand, champions and one motorcraft)Still wouldn't startHe kept cranking it until he ran the battery downI went to get a battery charger and came back to find him changing the circuit board with the starter switch on itI asked why he was changing that it said it was just clicking (remember he ran the battery down!) Still wouldn't startHe then said it was the diaphragm in the propane regulator, that's the problem 95% of the time he said (why didn't he have one on the truck then?) I told him to have them send one and I would put it inGot the diaphragm a week later (York is only miles away), it wasn't even closeI drove to their facility and was told you cant change diaphragm have to buy new regulatorThey wouldn't apply credit
After reviewing the claim from [redacted] we have issued a credit and refund for the part in question plus freight and sales tax. It is unfortunate that situations such as this arise, but we all know they do. This situation happens especially when customers wish to do their own repairs and only ask...
what next they can try.
