I am rejecting this response...
because:
I have read what Wilkins Towing wrote in response to my complaint, and I beg to differ with his recollection of the events as they occurred. I will, however, address his points again, even though I did so in my initial complaint, which states the absolute truth.
1. In the response from Wilkins Towing, he said he didn't know where my car was, and that is not true. My location was discussed with Wayne while we were still on the phone. He knew EXACTLY where I was stuck because he asked if I was near the rock wall on the road I was stuck on and I said yes.
2. Before he came to the site he knew all details of the situation-I told him my location, I told him the road was icy (which was the reason I turned around and decided not to continue), I told him that only one of my tires was off the road. He said nothing about bringing another person and that the second person would be an additional charge.
3. He said I was "okay" with paying the $250 fee until my mother got involved. This in NOT true. I was not okay with paying the $250 as he stated. I questioned him charging me $250
(without my consent) when he gave me the bill since he had quoted me less. But what could I do, he told me I had to pay him and I didn't know what other recourse I had at the time,
so I paid him.
4. This is irrelevant as far as I am concerned, but he said I should not have been on that road. The road is a public one and it was open for traffic. I am from 40 minutes away, and all I wanted to do was watch the sun rise from the mountain top. I can assure you that had I known the road was going to get icy, I would not have been there. Again, the previously stated has nothing to do with his actions, which I found to be dishonest. I felt as though I was taken advantage of because I am a young college student.
Finally, whether Mr. Wilkins refunds me what is rightfully mine or not, I have no control over, although I believe doing so is the right step to take. He quoted me a price and that
is what I should have been charged, no more. That said, I do want documentation of this unfortunate encounter so that others will be aware of it prior to their hiring his services.
Thank you for your time.
