I was shot and robed in *** AL. I was the victim. When I went to the emergency room Wheeler Wrecker Service towed my vehicle. My next of kin was never contacted nor was I asked if I could have someone pick up the vehicle. As a result my car is being Auctioned off cause I cannot afford to pay the storage and tow fees. My car should have never been impounded since I was the victim.
Billing Adjustment I want my car back free of charge. My car should have never been impounded.

To whom it may concern:
This letter is in response to the complaint filed by *** (case #XXXXXXXX) on July 18,2019. We have completed the investigation into the complaint and our findings are as follows:
On May 04, 2019, Mr. was the victim of a shooting. The police department impounded his car for processing. It took approximately less than a week to complete their investigation. Mr. was contacted by the detective to let him know they had completed processing his car. He was told by the detective to obtain a release from the police department and that there would be no charge since he was the victim. However, when Mr. went to the police department, he was arrested on an outstanding warrant by another police department. He called and stated he had been in jail for a week and wanted to get his car out. We informed him that he would have to pay for it since it had been sitting on the tow yard for a period of time. He continued to call almost every day and would sometimes call multiple times a day requesting we give him his car free of charge or reduce the rates. Since it was an impound by the city, we had to contact the police department to see if they would waive any charges.
The total charges to date are $3675.00. The break down of charges are as follows:
TOW CHARGE: $135.00
ADMIN FEE: $50.00
STORAGE FEE: $3,240.00
STATE FEE: $250.00
GRAND TOTAL: $3675.00
The detective and chief from the police department agreed to let him have the car for $900.00. When we spoke with Mr., he stated that he could not pay that. He only had $300.00. We told him he had to pay what the police department stated due to it being an impound. We also informed him each time he called that the longer he left the car on the tow yard that it would continue to accrue storage charges. The state fee did not get added until the 5th day and it was only $25.00. After fifteen days the fee increased to $250.00. We made Mr. aware of the accruing cost.
We feel like Mr. has been accommodated by the reduced charges of $900.00. Had he got the car out when told, he would not have been charged at all.
Thank you for allowing us to answer the complaint. We look forward to hearing from you.

The business response is not satisfactory. My car should have never been impounded and the business never told me I could pick up my car free of charge . I have saved up $300 and that should be enough to get my car back. I shouldn't have to pay anything since I was the victim in a robbery.
