This can be under multiple different complaint issues. Simply, the storage facility is discriminating and/or harrassing me. I pay full rent for a storage unit and was not behind in payment when the facility decided to, without any warning, restrict my access to my unit. I saw them in person the day that they restricted my access, but nothing was said. After multiple weeks, I asked them about it. They said I had my access restricted due to me being there after hours (which I was allowed to under a previous manager.) And for using a door. The door I guess was for emergency use only, however it had no signage whatso ever. When I talked to a manager I asked what my future reduced rate would be, considering my fee was for an advertised amount of time, and now id have nearly half the amount of access time. They said that their would be no reduction in price. After talking to the manager another time, they acknowledged multiple things. 1 that a prevuous manger did allow people to be there after hours, 2 that she took such action with no warning or heads up of any kind as I used their service in a way where I didnt know I was doing something wrong. 3, that the treatment I was receiving was unusual and not normal. 4, that she contacted her manager prior to the restriction and was approved, but neglected to provide a work email/number/ or even name for her manager. Due to the actions of the storage facility, thousands of dollars worth of my belongings were lost as my apartment was scheduled to be torn down and I thought I had a place to store them.
After researching washington state law regarding storage facilities, they arent allowed to reduce access to units unless the tenant is 6 days late on rent. At the time of the initial reduction of access, I had been fully paid for the entire month.
My girlfriend has received the same treatment. we are seperate customers on different accounts. She paid for a few days and the manager admited that our treatment was not ordinary and worse than other customers.
All customers are offered the same access hours of 6am-10pm. We do not offer extended access hours. This customer unfortunately has been compromising the security of the property by staying after access hours 6am-10pm as well as using illegal ways to enter the property.
The store manager contacted the customer on 2/1/2020 and was not able to get a hold of the customer. The customer reached out on the website on 2/5/2020 and was asked to contact the store during office hours. The customer did not contact us until coming in in person on 2/6/2020. At that point the customer demanded that a text message be sent to him with his new reduced rate for then left the office before any discussion could be had about his account and the issues with his activities on the property.
The customer then reached out on 2/11/2020 and requested the District Manager’s personal phone number and email address. The DM reached out to him and left a voicemail on 2/11/2020 but did not receive contact back. We have since then called the customer serval times and have not been able to reach the customer to have a proper conversation about his account.
