Weidner Apartment Homes Reviews (%countItem)

Upon move-out I was charged for cleaning services that were not required even after notifying management that I would have my own cleaning service perform the work. I was the first tenant to live in this particular unit and when I moved out, it's condition matched that of when I moved in. My inquiry as to why I was charged for unneeded and unrequested cleaning services was ignored for almost a month even after repeated attempts. Finally, the response was that it did not meet Weidner standards. This was unprofessional and borderline fraudulent.

Applied for an apartment for rent and was told that I would need to update my fraud alert report with the credit bureaus. They also requested I come in person to verify my identify with two forms of ID, in which I complied. Contacted Trans Union and updated my home address as well as my telephone number. The apartment complex then notified me via email that they would not proceed with my application due to the fraud indicator on report. After contacting the office to dispute the email sent to me and clarify why a Fraud alert would keep me from possibly getting an apartment in that community I was told that their guidelines do not allow them to proceed any further. I asked if it was due to my credit and they said again it was due to my Fraud indicator. When I contacted the Corporate office, only able to leave voice messages for them I said I wanted to speak to them regarding my application. I also asked to speak to the Manager of the apartments and spoke with Stephanie whom said she would look into my application and call me back. She did not return my telephone call until the following day in which she did state that because of my credit report finding that they were denying my application but per their email it was not because of my credit but the fraud indicator and because they could not verify my identify. I have the reason for my denial in an email as Fraud Indicator not my credit history. I believe they are telling me it is my credit now to cover the fact they told me it is for the latter reason.

I lived at Forest Hills Estates for two years. I had no problems while living there. When I moved in the carpets were in poor shape and I was told I would be the last resident to have them. In order for me to comfortably use the living room it was necessary to me to purchase a large area rug to cover the stains and to avoid smelling, what I can only describe as, old pet odor. However, I still vacuumed regularly and I caused no new stains/damage to the carpets.
I kept excellent care of the apartment and upon moving out I cleaned it well. Therefore, I was surprised when I was told I would be required to pay to have the carpets shampooed for the next tenant and to pay a general cleaning fee. I carefully reviewed the contract. There is no mention of either of these fees. I spoke with two managers who refused to refund the majority of my deposit. A very disappointing end to this otherwise pleasant rental experience.

Carpet: Within the signed lease agreement it states, " Payment to Landlord and/or its agents the cost to restore the apartment to its condition at the commencement of this residency as evidenced by Apartment Inspection Report, less wear and tear from normal usage. Resident agrees that soilage is not normal wear and tear and further agrees to clean drapes and carpets to professional standards or request Owner or Agent to do so at Resident’s expense. This section is found on pg. 1 of the lease agreement, under security deposit.

Reviewing the move in inspection sheet no notes were made to the carpet being in bad condition. The carpet c;leaning fee is outlined in the lease agreement. At the final walkthrough the carpet was found to be in need of a clean. The total charge for the carpet clean was $210 however ad a customer service gesture the past residnet was only charged $90.00. The past resident was also not charged for final utilities, or damages such as the washer knob that was broken and the microwave door glass sliding out.

While we appreciate the efforts the past resident took to clean the apartment home after move out it was deemed to still be in need of a professional clean to return the apartment home back to the condition in which they received it.

***Also, please note that the community selected is not located in Minnesota but in Washington.
