Wayne County Public Schools

On May 1, 2014, I contacted the Records Department for WCPS and spoke with someone named [redacted]. I asked [redacted] if I could obtain a copy of my entire school record that would include the names of all the schools I attended in Wayne County, and the addresses of my residences. I stated to [redacted] that I already had a copy of my transcript (requested and received in 2000) and did not need another one (see attachments). [redacted] advised me to go to the website for WCPS to download a request form, and to also provide a telephone number so she could contact me if she ran into any issues with my request. I stated to [redacted] that I would also provide her with a list of schools (along with the request form) that could appear in my records since she was so willing to communicate with me during this process. [redacted] never contacted me, and sent me a 1-page high school transcript I told her I already had since 2000. On Monday May 12, 2014, I contacted [redacted] and told her that I only received another copy of my high school transcript. [redacted] stated that I should have received three pages, none of which still reflected my request. On Monday, May 12, 2014, I contacted one of the assistant superintendants for WCPS named [redacted] concerning the rip off/scam with the records request and the lack of assistance/customer service on the part of some of its staff members. I sent Mr. [redacted] an e-mail on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 upon his request describing the details of my complaint and my request for a refund, but as of today Mr. [redacted] has not responded (see attachments).On the website for Wayne County Public Schools (WCPS), it states that graduates and former students can request a copy of the following records:TranscriptsShot recordsIdentification informationEntire school record It also states that it would be a $2 fee for each students record requested.WCPS intentionally requires payment in advance for services they know they cannot provide.There is nothing on their website that indicates a $6 fee for requesting an entire school record. [redacted] failed to contact me as she stated she would if she could not find what I was requesting. During my telephone conversation with [redacted] on May 12, 2014 (after I received another copy of my transcript), she admitted that I should have received 3 pages instead of the 1 page transcript she sent me I already had since 2000. Despite the fact that WCPS did not have what I requested, they still failed to send what they considered was an entire school record. In other words, WCPS charged me $6 for a copy of my high school transcript I told them I already had since 2000 and did not need.
