I have a sprinkler head that was installed in 2000 by Watersmith Irrigation that is installed roughly 5 inches from the house that actually sprays as much water against the brick than it does in the yard. I have paid Watersmith twice a year for 8 years to check the heads and flush the system and then turn it on. The only way I found this is we have a settling issue right where the head is located. I have had one foundation guy tell me that could be the cause. I have an engineering firm coming to do a soil sample. When I contacted them about the matter the owner was very aggressive and said that I wasn't being billed enough for the times they come out. He was on the defensive about how that much water couldn't cause a problem. I have done business with a lot of people and have never been treated this poorly. I am going to post this on Facebook so my friends and neighbors know that they aren't getting the service they think they are getting.
Yes, we did install this system 18 years ago. However, the last service we performed on this system was March of 2017. We did not shut-down the system in the fall of 2017 and we did not start the system up in the spring of 2018. Those services were provided by another company. In regards to your desired settlement, we have no problem with adjusting a sprinkler head. We will even do it free of charge due to your dis-satisfaction. It is not uncommon for sprinkler heads to need to be adjusted periodically. However, we think it is unreasonable to request that we help pay for a foundation issue that your home may have. Sprinkler heads get knocked out of adjustment quite often and this particular system was installed 18 years ago. These heads have probably been adjusted a dozen times over the years.
It is also worth noting that a single spray head will only flow 3 to 4 gallons of water per run time, which would be roughly 200 gallons per year depending on how often you water. When you compare that to the thousands of gallons of rain per year that your home will receive, it is reasonable to conclude that a single sprinkler head is not your problem.
If you want the sprinkler head adjusted free of charge, we will gladly perform that service. However, we will accept absolutely no responsibility for your foundation issue.
Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: I never canceled the shut off or turn on the system. I didn’t cancel the service.
Sincerely,
Randy Ball
My understanding is that there are 2 kinds of sprinkler heads. One that goes 180 degrees and one that goes 360 degrees. The one that I am having trouble with is about 6 inches from the house and it goes 360 degrees. I also have trouble understanding how when they are checked 2 times per year this wasn’t caught by the Watersmith Company. I called to seek answers and an understanding of how this could happen and instead I got an angry person who couldn’t communicate with people. This is the first time I have ever been compelled to get the Revdex.com involved in my lifetime. I believe the head needs to be moved instead of adjusted.
There are an infinite amount of angles that sprinkler heads can throw, not just 180 degrees and 360 degrees. As we stated earlier, we did not perform your last 2 services (2017 winterization and 2018 start-up). And, if you refer to our original response you can understand how a sprinkler head is not going to be the cause of your home's foundation problems. We have offered to adjust the head free of charge due to your dis-satisfaction, but we aren't offering anything more.
