Review: Our family rented unit #[redacted] on 7-24, 7-25, 7-25-2014. we were awaken at 6.45 am to carpenters nailing off plywood outside the bedroom window roughly 4 feet way. My wife and daughter stated they were uncomfortable with a creepy dream catcher object hanging on the wall. We removed it and placed it by the BBQ on the porch, while being watched by carpenters working on the houses under construction on both sides of the unit we rented. Our family then left for the day unable to rest around 9am. When we returned that evening the dream catcher was gone. It was obvious to us the carpenter who took it. When we were checking out, I brought this to the attention of the management employee ([redacted]?) and told her what had happened. She sarcastically said "Oh the wind must have blown it away". Then she said "Don't worry about it" and "it's OK, no big deal". I told her thank you and we checked out. I wanted to resolve any issue before leaving out of state and thought it had been taken care of. Then we received a charge on our debit card for an additional $180.00 dollars. The Dover Bay employee "[redacted]" or "[redacted]" whom I tried to discuss the matter with 8-21-14 on the phone was uncivil, abrasive, and unwilling to communicate. We have researched online similar Dream Catchers for between $15 to $20 dollars. We have been ripped off after being told not to worry about it.Desired Settlement: 1. We brought this issue to the Dover Bay employees attention and were told not to worry about it.2. A credit of $180.00 should be refunded back to the card you unauthorized a charge to.

Response:
Hi [redacted],
The renters admitted to removing the dream catcher from the unit while they were renting. They never notified management that they had a problem with the Dream Catcher. We are only the property managers for #[redacted] so the owner of the unit is the one who quote the price to replace the missing dream catcher. It is not up to the renter to find the cheapest one on Amazon and feel like that can replace the artwork that she had purchased while on vacation.
If they had not removed it from the unit and placed it outside we would not be dealing with this problem today. Our policies state that guest are responsible for missing or damage items in the units.
