Our relationship with Walchers started out very well and they did some very nice initial work for us on hardscaping and landscaping. I would agree *** that turf wasn't their strong suit. We had a patch of grass that still isn't thriving and the finish was quite uneven and lumpy throughout. We were told that they would come back and roll it again but after two years and many promises, that still hasn't happened.
Do not have them install irrigation.
In two separate spots, after much of my complaining that the area was extremely wet and soft, I dug the earth up myself to find phantom sprinkler heads that were broken off and buried, spewing water. They fixed the one instance of this. The second instance of this was realized last fall after numerous times of me telling them that there was a problem and numerous times of them telling me that I was wrong and that it was just a slow drainage point. After at least half a dozen calls to have them come and fix the buried and broken sprinkler head, they never showed up and stopped returning my calls. I guess I am on the hook for fixing that one myself?! Many of the plants and shrubs that were planted are dead and given the fact that they stopped returning my calls, I doubt that we will every receive warrant replacements.

Hi Troy, thank you for posting a review, I know its never an easy thing to do. This is unfortunately the first time I am hearing about there being issue with your plants. We did make a number of changes to your irrigation, and responded each time you reached out to us. We also just recently reached out to you to check that there are no issues with warranty, so please let us know if there is anything we can do. Thank you.
We booked a landscaping service through Walcher Brothers Landscaping back in March 2018. We provided them with a $1092 deposit as per the contract. We went back and forth on the project and settled on the contract. Weather was an issue this season as the project was never started but communication was constant from May to July. We were initially given a start date of July 24. Weather pushed it back. We were then contacted by an office manager named Denise. She kept us in the loop until the August 27th start date was confirmed. We were asked to provide 50% of the balance remainder as the date was confirmed. We did so the week of Aug 19th. Weather delays prevented a start. We kept going back and forth and it seemed the project would be pushed back to 2019. At the beginning of Oct, Susanna W contacted me via phone to confirm that the weather window would work to get the project done. They did not show up as per her conversation and have been unreachable since. I have emailed and left a voice mail. The voice mail now says NEWHART Landscaping. That is not the company we chose to do business with. Walcher Brothers was at the home and garden show in Edmonton and that is how we were put in contact with them. I have checked their online reviews and it seems that the company has ceased communicating with anyone since mid-September.
Walcher Brothers Landscaping has poor customer service. The hardscape was done very well however our turf looks lumpy. Do not use Walcher Brothers for turf installation because they do a poor job! Susanna promised us if we failed our landscaping inspection they would fix deficiencies. We failed our landscaping inspection and Walcher Brothers avoided us. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
We met/heard about Walcher Brothers through the Edmonton Home Renovation Show. We signed up for our free consultation and had our initial meeting within a week.
Susanna was very informative… she listened to what we were looking for but also gave some excellent suggestions! She came back with a drawing and quote very quickly. The drawing/design was a “base plan” so we were able to make modifications and additions throughout the entire project!
Alex takes great pride in his work, and it shows! He was always willing to make any slight changes we asked and was very helpful answering any questions we had during the project.
The only negative, would be a few communication issues we had. In fairness, this was mainly due to them being short staffed due to illness/injury.
In the end, we are so pleased with the finished product! We can’t wait until next summer when we can enjoy/celebrate with our friends and family in our backyard Oasis.
I would recommend this company to anyone looking to complete any type of landscaping project.
