We have reviewed all the patients payments and applied to the intended accounts per the patient’s dad, Mr. C[redacted]. The patient is being billed for charges that were incurred prior to BCBS and per Mr. C[redacted], these charges should have been billed to Centerpoint. We called and verified that the patient was eligible and have filed to Centerpoint (these are 2014 charges). Mr. C[redacted] was advised to allow time for the claims process and we will follow up with him about a possible refund. Mr. C[redacted] understood and was appreciative.
Review: I have tried repeatedly to resolve this issue with the billing department. My husband [redacted] is the patient. We received a billing statement for $571.24. I paid this amount on their website on 12/6/12. I received a billing statement Jan 1, 2013 stating $609.10 was past due. I made numerous calls to customer service and promises to research. The call center was disbanded and I was referred to [redacted]. My request to [redacted] was to understand what my payment satisfied and why the quantity is recorded as 16 when the insurance company only approved 6 injections. I think it is a typo but this has not been resolved. This is also why $497.47 is outstanding.[redacted] states she sent copies to prove my payment was applied to the doctors bill. They had two billing systems which are now being combined. She admits that the payments were not applied as I intended. We've never received a bill from the doctors but received a bill from the hospital. My payment was applied to the doctors cost and not the hospital charges. My dispute is the doctor charges were never billed and I have no idea if the amounts were submitted to my insurance company or valid charges. It is unfair to the consumer to apply payments in the fashion that this company has applied my payment. Regardless of how many times I've asked for the billing, they never satisfy the request. [redacted] continues to state we applied your payment. That's not the issue.I requested my payment be reapplied to the services I intended to pay. I want a billing statement from the doctor so that I may review and determine the charges are valid. This request has not been satisfied nor has the request to determine if the quantity of 16 was a typo which inflates the amount being billed. This company is not complying with Fair Debt Collection Practices causing stress for me as a consumer and multiple phone calls in an attempt to correct their billing issues. I hope this attempt will get the attention needed to finally resolve the discrepancy.Desired Settlement: 1) Research to determine why I was billed for a quantity of 16 instead of 6. 2) Reverse my payment and apply it as intend. 3) Provide a bill statement of the doctors charges that I may review services and verify insurance payments. 4) I attempted to make a settlement payment today. I was offered 10%. Since I honestly do not believe I owe this the settlement was not acceptable. As a last resort, I will settle for 50% of the $609. I've spent too many hours helping BH with their billing issues.

Below is the email I received back from out Corporate Revenue representatives:
Review: I sent four electronic checks over 6 weeks ago. The checks have been cashed but the amounts have not been credited to my account despite numerous phone calls and escalations. This organization refuses to accept electronic payments from my bank which is fine, so they get paper checks. My name and medical record number was correct on the checks, I double checked. This same issue happened last year and my account went to collections and it took months to get it resolved. This time, numerous calls have failed to fix the issue.Desired Settlement: I would like part of the amount to go towards any outstanding charges I have and the rest sent as a refund (via paper check). I will not be doing any business with this establishment going forward so I do not intend to incur any additional charges with them.

Ms. [redacted] overpayment was located and moved to the correct balance. Ms. [redacted] does not currently have a balance, but still has charges pending insurance. She has a remaining credit of $39.93 in undistributed and she has requested that it remain on her account for any future charges. We explained everything over the phone with her and have also mailed her itemized statements reflecting where her payments have been applied and she stated that she understood.
