!!!Buyer Beware!!! They care more about their riches than their waggs!
The worst experience I've ever had purchasing a puppy. On December 16, 2017 I purchased a cavapoochon from *** at Waggs to Riches. Before leaving the pet store she told me the puppy had kennel cough and gave me a day and half worth of Doxycline to administer twice per day. She stated that puppies sometimes get kennel cough after their Bordetella shots. *** gave me her phone number in the event I had any questions. I thought nothing of it as she said it was normal. As per her contract (if you are able to read it, see attached pictures) I took my puppy to her preferred vet Dr. Posner. He said everything is OK with the puppy and told me to administer the Doxycline once a day (not twice as *** had suggested). Later that night I called *** as my puppy seemed to be breathing heavily and panting a lot. She said that it was kennel cough and as long as he is eating, drinking and playing and I administer the Doxy he should be OK. By December 18, 2017 (three days later) I noticed as he slept a clear fluid drip out from his nose. I called and emailed *** to inform her. She never replied to my email and didn't reach out to me until several hours later. I was concerned and decided to take him back to Dr. *** (big mistake!). He once again Dr. *** said he was OK but sent me home with Temaril-P pills (1/2 pill twice per day). Later that night things took a turn for the worse. My puppy didn't eat, drink, or play. He was breathing and panting heavier than the days before and coughed frequently. The fluid from his nose went from clear to yellowish discharge. I had to rush him to an emergency vet. When I arrived at the emergency vet they asked me to exit the building and go around to the back isolation room because they did not want whatever my puppy had to infect the others dogs. After spending several hours at the vet and over $1,600 my puppy was diagnosed with BRONCHOPNEUMONIA, upper respiratory infection, and left nasal discharge. My puppy was hospitalized for a day. I was able to take him home the following night but was sent home with antibiotics, food diet and nebulizing instructions. I had to purchase a nebulizer and nebulize him 3-4 times a day 20min for a week. The next day I informed ***. I told her that I wanted to keep the puppy and asked her to pay for the vet bills as stated in Florida Statue 828.29. She was nasty and rude on the phone with me and has since not answered my calls or emails. I have also left her several messages with her employees and she has never returned my calls. I paid an exorbitant amount for a sick puppy. Several days later I had to take him back to the vet because he was doing better. He was shaking a lot not eating or drinking. After another $200 plus he was given a test for distemper and they had to administer fluids. This has been a total nightmare!
Think twice before you purchase from Waggs to Riches. They sold me a sick dog and refuse to be held accountable for it. If you too have been a victim inform yourselves and do your due diligence. Insist that she give you a legible copy of her contract. Contact the Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control, fill out the puppy complaint form at the Humane Society of the Untied States, read Florida Statue 828.29 (Pet Lemon Law) and take action.
Make them accountable!
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!
In May 2017, after visiting the puppy 2 times before and agreeing on a price with the staff, it was now time for my wife and I to bring my 2 boys to meet him.
I went to the register to pay and the owner *** told me that she couldn't honor the AGREED upon price. Her employee even told her that we had a deal, prior to me walking in the store. We went back and forth and she ultimately said you don't have to buy the puppy. Keep in mind, this is after she watched me tell my kids we're bringing him home!
I was't going to break their hearts, as well as my wife's over $500, so I paid her the difference.
During this back and forth with ***, she told me that she had to open a 2nd location in Boca because DELRAY DOES NOT ALLOW pet stores to sell dogs.
This was surprising to me because it was at her Delray location where WE PURCHASED and played with the puppy.
I'm debating on contacting the City of Delray and letting them know they have a proprietor BREAKING THEIR LAW
