WRichard Jamison provided us with long-distance closing services for our property that we bought in Chapel Hill, NCHowever, I can't say very positively that he provided good service or made me feel at ease with doing the closing from far away (we live in Massachusetts)Also, this is not the first time I've gone through the buying process, so I know more or less what to expectTo start, MrJamison was very poor with communicationBecause of him, our closing was pushed back three days, as he communicated to our real estate agent that he just "didn't have time" to prepare the documentsThe date was pushed back again when he did not send out the documents on timeThird, he sent out the documents, but he FAILED to read that the lender does not allow pre-dating of the documents before signing, so he sent me an overnight FedEx package with useless documentsI had to re-print a slew of documents, which was not easy for me considering that I have a toddler in tow and am in third trimester of pregnancy with my second child However, that was not the only issueI emailed MrJamison twice and called him once to verify that there were no documents in the FedEx package that I needed and that it was all in the PDF I printed to have signed in front of the notaryHe guaranteed he sent everything in the PDFSo, I sent the documents back, but I received a call the next day that MrJamison needed the HUD, which was included in the packetHe asked if I could sign the four pages and overnight to himAt this point, I was pretty angry because I paid well over $to have him provided closing "services" to me, yet he completely caused me a needless headache twice, not just once, but twice! I sent the documents overnight, which was almost $ I complained to MrJamison about this, and he said he would send me a check for $for all the troubleThis was a nice gesture on his partHOWEVER, MrJamison NEVER sent me the $he said he wouldNow, I wasn't just after him sending me $100, but he never even apologized for anything he didHe kept trying to blame the lender for everything, even when he clearly misguided meI still have emails proving that I asked him to clarify if I had done everything and wasn't missing anything I would never recommend Mr [redacted] to anyone, as he is a liar and has not heard of taking personal responsibility when he messes something upHe is the type of lawyer who will not acknowledge anything he did wrong, and he does not hold his end of a promiseI don't even want the $100, but I must say that I really feel short-changed that I spent so much money for him to treat me like I wasn't important enough for him to care aboutJust because I was hiring him from afar does not mean that I am not as important as his other, local cases If you are not in North Carolina, please do not go with this untrustworthy lawyer, as he will act as if you don't matter, and he will likely delay your closing AND mess up your closing documents so that you end up having to pay more out-of-pocket just to get the whole thing doneAnd I hope he doesn't make promises to others again! Thanks for nothing MrJamison!
W. Richard Jamison provided us with long-distance closing services for our property that we bought in Chapel Hill, NC. However, I can't say very positively that he provided good service or made me feel at ease with doing the closing from far away (we live in Massachusetts). Also, this is not the first time I've gone through the buying process, so I know more or less what to expect. To start, Mr. Jamison was very poor with communication. Because of him, our closing was pushed back three days, as he communicated to our real estate agent that he just "didn't have time" to prepare the documents. The date was pushed back again when he did not send out the documents on time. Third, he sent out the documents, but he FAILED to read that the lender does not allow pre-dating of the documents before signing, so he sent me an overnight FedEx package with useless documents. I had to re-print a slew of documents, which was not easy for me considering that I have a toddler in tow and am in third trimester of pregnancy with my second child.
However, that was not the only issue. I emailed Mr. Jamison twice and called him once to verify that there were no documents in the FedEx package that I needed and that it was all in the PDF I printed to have signed in front of the notary. He guaranteed he sent everything in the PDF. So, I sent the documents back, but I received a call the next day that Mr. Jamison needed the HUD, which was included in the packet. He asked if I could sign the four pages and overnight to him. At this point, I was pretty angry because I paid well over $300 to have him provided closing "services" to me, yet he completely caused me a needless headache twice, not just once, but twice! I sent the documents overnight, which was almost $30.
I complained to Mr. Jamison about this, and he said he would send me a check for $100 for all the trouble. This was a nice gesture on his part. HOWEVER, Mr. Jamison NEVER sent me the $100 he said he would. Now, I wasn't just after him sending me $100, but he never even apologized for anything he did. He kept trying to blame the lender for everything, even when he clearly misguided me. I still have emails proving that I asked him to clarify if I had done everything and wasn't missing anything.
I would never recommend Mr. [redacted] to anyone, as he is a liar and has not heard of taking personal responsibility when he messes something up. He is the type of lawyer who will not acknowledge anything he did wrong, and he does not hold his end of a promise. I don't even want the $100, but I must say that I really feel short-changed that I spent so much money for him to treat me like I wasn't important enough for him to care about. Just because I was hiring him from afar does not mean that I am not as important as his other, local cases.
If you are not in North Carolina, please do not go with this untrustworthy lawyer, as he will act as if you don't matter, and he will likely delay your closing AND mess up your closing documents so that you end up having to pay more out-of-pocket just to get the whole thing done. And I hope he doesn't make false promises to others again!
Thanks for nothing Mr. Jamison!
