In a word: unprofessional.

I prepaid for a memorial marker for my brother on 9/1/2012. When I called to check on my order on 11/1/2012, she said she would check on it. Judging by her tone of voice, it is possible that she had not even ordered the marker by this date.

In December she phoned to let me know the marker was finally ready. My husband picked it up.

When I viewed the marker, I was very upset. My brother's name is not all on one line, but on two lines. The letter size was selected very carelessly: my brother's first name and middle name are on the first line, and his nickname and last name are on the second line. The rest of the letters look tiny by comparison and the entire effect is sloppy and careless and unprofessional.

When I phoned today to try to resolve the situation, Ms. xxxxxx never expressed sympathy, did not offer an apology, and did not make any effort to resolve the situation in any way. She told me I should take the several hundred pound granite stone to Bob Barton in Marble, NC and "have him make me a new one." The conversation ended with her hanging up on me.

Ms. xxxxxx should change her business policies. If someone's name cannot fit properly onto a memorial marker of a given size then she should advise her customer and sell the appropriate marker. She should know how many letters of what size will fit onto every marker that she sells.

Ms. xxxxxx should check all of her orders when they come in and do the right thing if there is a mistake.
