Volvo of Westport reneged on a deal ***
I have visited the dealership a few times, we went back & forth regarding color, options, etc.…
BOTTOM LINE: On March 10, 2020, Volvo of W offered me a deal in writing via email and they failed to honor it.
On March 11, Volvo of W asked for a deposit for the agreed upon vehicle. I promptly gave them $ 500 to fulfill my end of the deal. In addition, I submitted to them a c***. I did not submit *** since:
A.) It was lacking specifics such ***.
B.) When they emailed me back the completed *** it was missing ***.
C.) On March 13, Volvo of W. stated there is no deal for a vehicle with *** “I haven’t signed anything.” However, 1.) I have given a $ 500 deposit *** 2.) I submitted a ***, and; 3.) They’re the ones who sent me a “blank” PO with no details to sign. Instead, he insisted that I lease a vehicle with no *** (NOTE: I have since received my deposit back a few days later.)
***. As a result of them ***y, it cost me $ 350 plus sales tax.
We were working with *** for a number of months trying
to find him a car that fit his needs.November
2019 – *** wanted us to locate him a color combination that was not
available and would have to be ordered. We explained this and he did not
want to order a car.. instead he said he wanted to wait and see if
“something showed up”… which we again advised would not be the case. December
2020 – *** asked us if we found anything and we again explained
there was not a car available in his color combination. We also explained
if he took a car this month (December 2019), there was a 1st payment waiver. We offered a similar car in white to *** which he
came down to see and turned down the offer.. again, wanting to wait to see
if something showed up. January
2020 – *** again wanted to see what options he had. We went through
them all and he said he would be ok with a different color combination. We
located a car at another dealer and bought it from them for ***. *** then changed his mind and wanted to wait for his original color
combination choice. February
2020 – *** said he was cancelling the search and wanted to get an
***. At the end of February, *** wanted us to reduce his payment on
a non-existing car that we explained we didn’t have or he was buying an
***.March
2020 – *** asked us again if we were able to find him the car he
wanted. We again explained that color combination does not exist. He then
said he would be ok with changing his color combination but wanted to
reduce his payment. We explained the only way that is possible is by
finding a car with less options. We went through what he wanted and
sunroof was not on his list. We found a car for *** and we bought
that car for him. He would not leave a deposit until he saw the car. He
came in and declined that car as well. We explained we are done. At this
point we bought two cars for him which he keeps declining. *** later
called in saying he would take the car at an even lower payment and wanted
his first payment waived which was the promotion that ended in December
like we stated. We said we would cover the cost of his first payment at
the dealership level if he took that car. He said ok and we sent a
purchase order. He declined to sign that purchase order because he now
wanted a 35 month lease term which does not exist. We explained it is a 36
month term, we will cover your first payment and you will have 35
remaining payments. Then asked if the car has a sunroof, and we explained
no, that was not an important option he listed when he asked for us to
find a car. He said well the purchase order you sent has it listed in error.
I explained that was an error and that this car is the car he had us get
for him and showed him the list of what he said was important. He said
well now he wants a sunroof and will sign and leave a deposit now. We said
no, we cannot add a sunroof to this car, it is not possible. He then
called to leave a deposit if we agree to the car having a sunroof. We
declined to take his deposit and told *** to please take his
business elsewhere.
This was a very long and ever changing exchange of how *** wanted to configure his car, which I'm sure led to confusion. But in the end we could not do what *** wanted. But I do not feel there should be any settlement amount due to ***.
Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
A.) I've invested a lot of time & effort on this. We went back & forth on the color, options, etc.... and finally, we came to a mutual agreement.
B.) An offer was put forth.... buyer (me) and seller (car dealer) both accepted the terms.
C.) I was given a VERBAL & WRITTEN Agreement via email by the dealership;
D.) They requested a deposit and I promptly gave them one.
E.) For them to renege on an agreed upon deal then to try to switch ***
Bottom line: The verbal, written email agreement, & the deposit that they requested, received, and accepted ***
***
Sincerely,
Robert
