I purchased a certified pre-owned 2012 VW Passat in September of 2015. From the moment I drove the car off the lot I had nothing but trouble from this car. First thing that happened was items that technicians identified while completing the inspection on the car for the certification were never done. The list goes on with the number of issues I have had with my supposedly certified vehicle. I have had the radio replace, a door handle, brand new tires had to be put on (at the cost of the dealer), something with the breaking system, the tray in the trunk, and ton of things I can't think of right now. I called and tried to work with the dealership, tried to call corporate and no one is able to help with the continued issues that I am having with this lemon of a car. Honestly considering consulting with an attorney at this point. I feel like I was tricked into this purchase. The car was advertised and sold to me as if it were certified and the inspection was completed, but I don't believe this due to all the problems I have had with this vehicle.

Hello,

We have received your notice dated 11/29/2016, referencing the above matter, please accept this as our response.

It is our policy to not sell any vehicle with aftermarket tinting. Mr. [redacted] purchased his vehicle 28 months ago, and we have no record of it having tinted windows at that time. We are not saying that this did not happen, simply that it is not our policy. We reject Mr. [redacted]’s accusation that we have falsified any records in this or any other circumstance.

Mr. [redacted] previously made a complaint to the Illinois Attorney General, and we asked that we be able to see the car (see attachment). We wanted to see the tinting that was on the vehicle, so we could ascertain what would be required to remove the tint.

We received no response to that request, which the Attorney General’s Office felt was fair and reasonable. Volkswagen of Orland Park has been responsive and ready to work with Mr. [redacted] on this since he first made a complaint with the Attorney General in September. We do not know what else he is expecting from us, since he has not responded to our request to view the vehicle.

We would be happy to have the tint removed at no expense to Mr. [redacted], and have a legal level of tint installed, to make his vehicle compliant with any laws he may be in breach of, at the current time. We need to see the vehicle to determine what needs to be done, and speak directly to Mr. [redacted] to arrange this. Volkswagen of Orland Park feels this is a fair and reasonable request.

We thank you for bringing this matter to our attention, and we are happy to work with you and Mr. [redacted] to reach a reasonable resolution.

Hi
This is the first time they have offered to install legal tinting . As I have said a number of times ,  I removed the illegal tinting in order to operate my car legally. For future reference ,  please advise Mr. [redacted] that it just peels off. Pretty simple, took me no longer than 20 minutes . As I have said ,  countless times by now, I moved around 90 miles from the dealership .  Its at best  a roughly 90 minute drive each way, depending on traffic.
The response Mr. [redacted] says that he gave to the A.G. I never received . I have emailed him and told him Id buy him a meal in my area if he would care to drive up and look at the car and discuss whatever he wants. I don't know why the onu is on me to drive approximately 180 miles to possibly resolve an error that was made by the seller.
I think from here on out ,  all future offers must be in writing . I made sure that everything I've done from the very beginning was in writing in anticipation of a bad faith response on the part of the dealership, which unfortunately has occurred .
I can get local estimates on replacing the tinting with legal tinting and have law enforcement verify that the tinting is illegal . And Mr. [redacted] can talk directly with the aforementioned and figure it out . I can accomplish all this in far less than the time it would take to get to Orland. And it's still a pain in the neck since none of this is my fault.

I am the owner of a VW CC. I took my car to the dealership for an oil change. Recently I've been inquiring about trading in my vehicle with different dealerships. I decided that I will inquire with Volkswagen concerning the Passat. I spoke with the car salesman Natalia about the vehicle and what I was interested in doing and the price range I wanted to stay. While Natalia was speaking with the finance manager Steve and Bruce the general manager, I can hear the conversation as if I was standing right next to her. Her office was in the back and I was still able to hear her. She blurted out what my credit score and was not discreet discussing my personal information. When she returned, I stated to her to her that I was able to hear her conversation and that for privacy reasons I asked was it appropriate for them to have a conversation in the public for other customers to hear. She left to get numbers again but when she returned, instead of giving me the numbers, she simply told me that it was not in the price range of my current payment and that I wouldn't be able to get that car. I had to ask for her to go back to get the price so that I can determine if it was something that I am willing to pay. Instead of coming back with numbers, she came back stating that I needed to get a payoff quote first. My next question to her was, how was he able to tell me what type of payment I can have the first time without the payoff but now he needs the payments. Steve the finance manager eventually came in to discuss the payments with me and he was not helpful. He basically stated that I was wasting his time because of my questions that I had concerning the payments. Being upset, I asked to speak to his manager which was Bruce. Again, Bruce was not helpful either. It seemed he wanted to make excuses for Natalia and Steve's actions whether than owning the situation. Needless to say, I will not consider purchasing a vehicle from that dealership and I will let others know to consider other dealerships as well. I've purchased other cars in the past and have spoken with many other dealerships and this one lacks customer service.
