When Mr. [redacted] was contacted to inform him about the over booking situation, the alternative hotel reservations were already arranged which was communicated and it was based on the total occupants disclaimed on an email via flipkey on August 14th 2015 where he stated that on the first night he would be having 2-3 guests total and on the second night 5 guests total.
Mr. [redacted] refused to take the reservation at first, then asked for time to make a decision, later he requested that Vivas Guesthouse payed for his entire stay as compensation which was not an available option; after a few hours he requested to have the reservation only for Saturday night and then he decided no to take the reservation at all due to finding more competitive prices.
Our cancellation policy does not state a monetary compensation on this instances and as unfortunate as an overbooking is for both the guest and the hotel, a monetary compensation is not a common practice in the hotel/vacation rental industry.
The conversation with Mr. [redacted] is available via text if needed for clarification.
We are incredibly sorry for all the inconveniences the situation caused for Mr. [redacted] and his party.
Thank you.
