I purchased what I was told was a vintage wedding dress on 7/13/20 for my daughter at Vintage Finery. The dress had no price tag and the owner indicated that she would like to get $750.00 but would take $650.00 for the "vintage wedding dress." The dress had a stain which the business owner assured us she could remove if we followed her to her home down the street. We went to her house and she attempted to remove the stain. She was unable to remove it but assured us it would come out. We agreed to purchase the dress with this assurance. We attempted to remove the stain that night and it would not come out. We contacted the owner the next day to alert her to this and she refused to work with us further, stating her contract states all sales are final. We were not provided with a verbal explanation nor a written description of her "all sales are final contract" when we were in the store or in her home. There were three of us in our party and all are in agreement on this fact. I addressed this with her but she did not respond. We were also not provided with a receipt at the time of sale. On 7/20/20, we became aware of an advertisement for this exact same dress being currently available online for purchase at ***. This same dress was advertised on this website as a "V Neck Short Sleeve Lace Maxi Dress" and sold regularly for $78.99 but was currently on sale for $37.89. I again contacted the shop owner with the picture of the dress from the website and asked her to work with us on this issue as she had presented what is a currently available dress as a vintage wedding dress and had grossly overcharged us for it. She has not responded to my messages regarding this overcharge and misrepresentation of her product. I felt I had no other option but to address it through the Revdex.com. I do not want others to be deceived and pay an exorbitant amount for a dress that is misrepresented as vintage and to be subjected to her poor business practices.
I was denied the return of a cash deposit paid to the ownership of an unpurchased and unworn rental costume.
Mr. came into my shop and put down a $100 deposit towards buying my best Santa suit, as he wanted it very badly and it was understood that deposits can't be refunded for sales, as the item that is held can not be rented/sold or shown to anyone else during the hold period. This is described in writing on my rental/sales contract that the customer fills out at the time of rental/sales or the start of the hold period. He had understood this.He came back in later, saying the events and business venture that he had planned had fell through so he wanted his money back. I explained what I've just said here and he left, and then a while later was notified by you that he had filed a complaint. I've been in business over 34 years and have a great reputation, so this has been upsetting to me.Thank you for your time on the phone calls I've made to you, and taking the time to accept my reply to this.Sincerely,Collector / Owner / Costumer ***Vintage Finery Costumes and Bridal16 Settlers Way, Orrington, Me. 04474PHONE: Email: ***Temp.
