I am rejecting this response because: The apartment representative told me that the complex is pet friendly, so I filled out the lease application and paid them $200.00 for application fee. After the three day refund window had expired, they presented me with the lease agreement with the pet addendum. I read the pet addendum and found it to be anything but pet friendly, so I asked for my $200.00 back.
The fact that I was told that this complex is pet friendly, then to find out it is not is a misrepresentation of facts. Had they told me up front that my dog could be subject to confiscation pursuant to the contract language, I never would have given them $200.00 in the first place.
This is called theft by deception, and/or, false advertisement.

addendum. We use the [redacted]’s lease agreement including the pet addendum, as most multi-family management companies do. The language used in the [redacted] lease and addendums covers the properties from residents who abuse the standard rules. Due to fair housing laws and guidelines, we do have to treat every applicant the same and we require that they all sign the same paperwork. We are not able to make exceptions in regards to refunds either. My [redacted], [redacted], and I all tried countless times to explain this to Mr. [redacted], but he was unfortunately not happy with the outcome of any of the conversations. I wish that we could have resolved the matter here onsite and not had to involve anyone else, but we were not able to despite several attempts. I hope that this does not reflect negatively on my community, [redacted], or [redacted], but we have policies in place that we have to go by as all companies.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
