In regard to complaint ID [redacted] : All residents of Village Square Apartments prior to [redacted] ***'s move in were informed of our apartment complex's switch to online payment All incoming residents 2017-are required to pay online, as well We do this to prevent theft by our employees, to prevent theft from outsiders (our office has been broken into multiple times, and money orders from the past night drop/safe are stolen), and simple loss by carelessness of employees In addition, we have had many tenants claim they slipped their money order into a night box when in fact they have not, and they then refuse to pay the rent owed As such, this is a security issue for our office.Regarding his claim that he cannot use his lap our office stated verbally (multiple times), that Mr [redacted] may come in and use our computers at his convenience We are more than happy to assist him with setting up automatic withdrawal, or he may come in to pay his rent on a monthly basis utilizing a cell phone In addition, he sates our policy is inherently unfair to him a s a new resident How can we demand our incoming residents to do this, and then make a special concession for Mr***? This appears extremely discriminatory to pick and choose which new residents can or cannot partake We have many elderly residents who utilize this feature with zero issue.Additionally, online payments do not have to be done with solely a bank account Residents may also use a credit card, or debit card, or electronic cash This should address his statement of California law There are multiple avenues available to him online
