I am writing in response to a recent complaint against Elite Sports and Spine and our billing practicesIt is my understanding that this complaint is on the behalf of Ms*** *** who was treated in our office between the dates of 8/7/and 9/3/for a total of seven visits. The services performed were billed accordingly and sent to her insurance plan, with the exception of September 3rd, for a grand total of $1103.00. Per our contract with ***/***, a contractual write off of $was applied to the patients account, leaving a patient portion responsibility of $as assigned by her insurance plan to her deductible.
The visit on September 3rd was after her insurance coverage terminated and the patient paid a discounted time of service fee for her treatment***/*** did not issue any payment for any services rendered to this memberThe charges billed for this members services included spinal and extremity adjustments (98940, 98943), and in addition therapeutic exercises (97110) and Active Release therapy (97140-59) which are time dependent codes
Ms*** has been aware of a balance on her account for multiple months as our records indicate that she called our office on 1/14/stating that she believed the bill was incorrect and wanted to reconcile it with her own recordsIt was on 6/17/that Ms*** requested an itemized bill from our office which was sent to her the same dayAdditional email correspondence has occurred following her receipt of the billIt has been explained to her that her insurance made zero payments, and that the balance is a result of her insurance plans yearly deductible
As our services were billed in a timely manner to her insurance plan and processed according to her plan benefits, the balance given to Ms*** is correctQuestions regarding the allowed amounts or her specific plan benefits may be directed to her health insurance planIt is our belief that the members account was handled in a professional and compliant manner
