I just received a letter from a lawyer in UTAH. Not even local lawyer. The company needs $ 132 from me. A $132.
Never a bill or phone call from Fitness Center in VIRGINIA. I have not attended for 2 YEARS.
Wendy must be DESPERATE if she needs to COLLECT $ 132.
I stopped going because the center was going downhill. Broken old equipment and classes being less and less and always changing.

Review: I recently went to the location to pick up my *free* one-week pass to try it out. Before I was even given a tour, I was whisked away to a sales desk to be told about the membership options. It was very clear from the start, they had no intentions of giving me the free one-week pass they advertise, they wanted me to sign up immediately. The associate briefly, very quickly and very vaguely went through the contract. When she got to the part about cancellation, she would not give me the contract to read, she just summarized. I explained to her that there may come a time that I needed to cancel because I would be spending more time out of the local Richmond area and would be unable to use the club. She told me that would not be a problem at all. That time came and I contacted the membership department to cancel. I informed her that my husband was working 2 hours outside of Richmond and his company had furnished an apartment for him. We were keeping our home for now, but we only spent one day a week in Richmond, the day they are closed. Membership refused to cancel my membership stating that the only way I could cancel is if I could prove, by lease or utility bill, that I had left the area. I explained the situation and that they are closed on the only day I can get there, they did not care. I was misinformed from the start, clearly on purpose, and now they are refusing to cancel my membership. They continue to bill me for every month that I have been trying to resolve this and they are now billing me for the full 3-year term at once and have sent my account to collections. They are refusing to even negotiate. I was intentionally mislead into a contract by their representative and have been dealing with them for over 6 months to get out of it. Their staff is unfriendly and coercive. The intentionally lied to me. Not only would I never go back there after how I've been treated, I would never recommend them to anyone!Desired Settlement: I want my membership cancelled. I have been trying to cancel it for months and they have refused and continue to bill me for every month they drag it out. Now they are billing me for a full 3-year term at once. I wish for my membership to be cancelled, no more payments to be made, and the invoice for the 3-year term to be cancelled. If they have reported this to a credit agency, that information needs to be removed as well.

Based on the contract that Ms. [redacted] signed, to cancel she must provide proof that she has permanently moved out of a 25 mile radius and current and up to date on her membership payments. Ms. [redacted] is delinquent on her membership payments and has not provided proof satisfactory to Victory Lady South, Inc. that she has permanently relocated out of a 25 mile radius. When Ms. [redacted] signed her membership agreement she received a copy of what she signed. Her rights to cancel are clearly outlined in her copy of the contract.

Once the account is current (all overdraft and/or stop payment fees paid) and proof of her "permanent relocation out of a 25 mile radius" has been met, Victory Lady South, Inc. will be more than happy to cancel Ms. [redacted]'s Victory Fitness Center membership.

“delinquent” on my account from the time that I have been trying to cancel my membership. Victory Lady has dragged it out,

consequentially making me delinquent in my account.

As for

moving 25 miles out of the area and providing proof, I have explained to them

that my husband’s employer rents our apartment and pays our utility bills so we

do not have a lease in our name to show them.

I thought this might happen when I joined so I specifically asked about this exact situation before signing the

contract and was told by their representative that this would not be a

problem. If she had told me this would

be a problem, I would never have signed the contract. She intentionally mis-lead me in order to get

me to sign a contract with them.

I find it

completely unbelievable that Victory Lady is causing all of this back and forth

over a contract that is only worth a few hundred dollars. It is more important to them to get their few

hundred dollars then release a member who is unhappy with their service and

cannot use their facility so is therefore telling everyone she knows to NOT

join Victory Lady. It seems their few

hundred dollars is more important to them than their reputation.

I continue to be impressed with Victory Lady Fitness centers....at both locations in Richmond. I appreciate the affordable membership and love the classes that are offered. I have been challenged and encouraged not only by the staff, instructors, but also the other women who come to workout. With a women only membership, there are no uncomfortable stares or glares. There are always a mix of classes and instructors that are talented and provide cross training opportunities. It's a great place to start living a healthy life style.
