My insurance company recommended SOS builders. I filed my claim 3/20/17 for water damage in my kitchen that was said to be coming from the dishwasher. I went with another company for the dry out but SOS builders for the restoration. They didn't send me someone until 4/12/17. Keep in mind, my dishwasher was sitting in the middle of the kitchen essentially and only one side of my sink was operational due to the garbage disposal being taken out and the cabinet underneath the sink. From that point on the contractor Chris E was extremely sporadic in his communication with me. He sent 2 different counter top companies 4/19. He submitted a "change order" form to me on 5/4/17 and gave me a draw schedule 5/8/17. When I asked about paying he said that he would take the first payment once they started work. I received the run around for a couple of weeks that they had to make the counter to fit the cabinet but the cabinet was complete. He kept on pushing back the dates of the restoration to take place but said it would only take about a week at most when everything was in. I finally spoke to Gina about what was going on 5/30/17. She said she would "escalate the project" to her manager. June 1st I attempt to call Chris and find that his number is disconnected and come to find out that he was let go and that he had 14 jobs (mine being one of them) that were just at a standstill and JUST THEN his employer caught on and had just let him go. My mother who is a co-owner had to hound Gina for this bit of information that she failed to share with me. Granted 14 jobs is a lot, but it would've been nice to have more communication. Thus, I did not hear this information from their office right away. June 6th, I am contacted by their new contractor Darel who actually ended up being great but unfortunately he represented SOS. He came out June 9th and communicated that Chris hadn't really done his homework for the restoration I needed--it wasn't going to be impossible but it was different than what he drew up. My biggest concern at this point was cost because I did not feel that I should have to pay any differently and if anything, there should have been a break considering. He said that the paperwork was a mess at that point and the manager would be the one to discuss the cost with and that he had 13 other jobs (some sounded even worse off than I was). When all was said and done, the job was completed officially 7/3/17. I didn't receive an invoice until 8/4/17. And it was confusing to say the least. When I called the office to ask about what exactly I owed, I received conflicting information and apparently the "office manager" Teresa didn't seem to know the ordeal that I had been through and was not empathetic at all. I am a relatively new homeowner and I wish I had done my homework. I work full time and so trying to do constant follow up, having to take time from work, and having a less than a fully functional kitchen was very stressful. Work with this company at your own risk.
