The engine brought in was a - 15hp Evinrude It's a year old engine and it had been sitting for approx years without use It came in with the customer requesting we repair the carburetor with his/the customer's supplied parts and misc small maintenance repairs/service After repairs are completed it is our practice to run the engines for the customer to show them what was done and answer any questions they may have on the repairs made When starting the engine for the customer the recoil/rope broke This is not a big deal, it's not out of the ordinary Nothing broke due to significant force or anything out of the norm, it broke because it was old and worn If we would've sent the customer off with it, it would've broke when he pulled it If we would've had the customer start it here it would've broken when he pulled it It just happened That does not mean that we were the cause of it In the complaint the customer stated he spoke to Travis This I cannot say if it's true or not as he is one of our technicans However Travis does not have the authority to determine what will be charged and when or how much The customer had spoken directly with Mark, the owner Mark is also the person that had started the engine for him It was discussed with him, by Mark, that it would be fixed but his responsibility to pay for and he could pick it up the next day So the customer left it here for repair and picked it up the following day

The engine brought in was a 1982 - 15hp Evinrude. It's a 35 year old engine and it had been sitting for approx 3 years without use. It came in with the customer requesting we repair the carburetor with his/the customer's supplied parts and misc small maintenance repairs/service....
After repairs are completed it is our practice to run the engines for the customer to show them what was done and answer any questions they may have on the repairs made. When starting the engine for the customer the recoil/rope broke. This is not a big deal, it's not out of the ordinary. Nothing broke due to significant force or anything out of the norm, it broke because it was old and worn. If we would've sent the customer off with it, it would've broke when he pulled it. If we would've had the customer start it here it would've broken when he pulled it. It just happened. That does not mean that we were the cause of it. In the complaint the customer stated he spoke to Travis. This I cannot say if it's true or not as he is one of our technicans. However Travis does not have the authority to determine what will be charged and when or how much. The customer had spoken directly with Mark, the owner. Mark is also the person that had started the engine for him. It was discussed with him, by Mark, that it would be fixed but his responsibility to pay for and he could pick it up the next day. So the customer left it here for repair and picked it up the following day.
