Thank you for allowing us to resolve this matterMr [redacted] contacted our office on March 2, 2017, stating his flooring installer had cut a wire in a door openingWe dispatched an electrician for the service call Our electrician discovered that a Romex wire was cut that ran behind the door casingAt that point, our electrician told the customer the door casing needed to be removed to make the repairsWe gave the customer the name of a contractor to remove the door casing On March 6, 2017, we scheduled another visit once the door casing had been removedOur Electricians made several attempts to fish the wire Having no success, they discussed the need to open the wall with the customerOur electrician used a key hole saw to open the wall Mr [redacted] thought that using a key hole saw was too slowWe use that method for two reasons: We can tell if we are hitting something like other wiring or pipe before it is damagedThis method doesn’t create the amount of dust and debris in a customer’s home Mr [redacted] decided to use his own power tools to open the wall to give us needed access to make the repair Mr [redacted] is correct this was a service call and in this type of situation it can take more time than just running a wire with access in an attic or an unobstructed space He does state in his complaint that this project had some challenges We don’t have a fast and a slow team On this job, we charged for one journeyman and an apprentice, which are at different rates I appreciate Mr***’s positive comments regarding our first opportunity to provide service However, to avoid having a negative outcome on this issue, we will accept his payment of $446.88, a $reduction from the original billing of $ In conclusion, it seems odd to me that Mr [redacted] didn’t expect reimbursement from the contractor that caused the problem in the first placeThis was not a typical service call and for that it is unfortunate that Mr [redacted] was inconvenienced and felt he had been overcharged Best regards, Tim K [redacted] Valley Electric Service
