Please stay away from this vet clinic. We had been to several visits with our two dogs, and were happy with Dr. Engstrom's care. But yesterday there was an incident there that was so traumatizing to my daughter and I that we can never go back.
We had brought our rescue dog in to update his vaccines. We have had Cisco for more than a year and love him as a part of our family. I was planning to relinquish him back to the rescue person who met us at the vet clinic to take him once his vaccines were done.
While I was standing at the counter and beginning to read the contract relinquishing Cisco to the rescue person, she noticed that I had signed it before reading it and grabbed it out of my hands. She said, "He's not your dog anymore." I grabbed it back from her and told her I wanted to read it first. She then WRESTLED me for the paper, reaching over from behind my back and holding onto me while I tried to hold it out of her reach. I repeatedly asked her to let me read the contract and she threw it over the desk to Candy, the receptionist. Candy snatched it up and took it from the room to the back of the clinic someplace. When she came back she said very smugly, "I don't have it, and it's not here." Tamera, the rescue person turned on me angrily, and kept saying he wasn't my dog. She told my daughter and I that we wouldn't be allowed to say goodbye to Cisco, the police officer that responded made her let us have a brief 30 seconds with the dog before she took him away.
It was only after I called the police that she made a copy and gave it to me just before police arrived. At no point did any of the clinic staff or the vet herself come out to assist me. We were making a lot of noise and they could all hear.
I have spoken with Dr. Engstrom and was told they always have surveillance of the front office and she would take a look at it, but I would need to get a court order to view it. Her office staff called me back within the hour, saying that the video did not record due to a "scheduling" error.
They also would not let us stay in the room for the vaccines.
Those who work in this clinic are highly unprofessional, at best, and at worst, are in collusion with a "rescue" organization that has much to hide.
