17 year old locked into a contract for membership
My son was told to go online to get his pass to visit urban air. The only option online was the membership. He thought that was what they meant. So he signed him and his 14 year old brother up so they could go that day. He did not know this was a monthly membership. When I called to let them know he is only 17, they stated it's ok because they approved it and he would have to pay over $700 to cancel it. He's 17 and can not legally sign a contract and them knowing this are doing nothing.
I am writing to respond to Complaint ID re: *** and minor child, ***. Ms. admits in her statement of the problem, that her minor son signed up for the monthly membership not only for himself but also for his 14 year old brother, and our internal documents prove the same. Her minor son falsified his birthdate on the waiver (3/6/1981) and indicated that he was a parent/guardian when signing up for the membership. There are numerous indicators when signing up including two specific check boxes, indicating that the guest signing up is acknowledging they are signing up for a 12-month commitment and that they are eligible to electronically sign the contract. Again, her statement about us ‘doing nothing’ regarding this matter is also false, as evidenced below. The situation first came to my attention, not by Ms., but through a third party that forwarded Ms.’s Facebook post regarding this matter. Ms. went to Facebook in the Moms of Green Bay group, rather than contacting our park directly, for resolution. Upon notification of this post, I instantly researched the situation further, reached out to our corporate office (as evidenced below) and discovered Ms.’s son, *** falsified documents. As you can see, our Membership Team cancelled ***’s and Alex Kazik’s memberships effective 2/14/2020 12:38pm. Ms. was called immediately on 2/14/2020 and I left a voicemail for her to call me directly at the park. I never received a phone call from her and am now seeing that she filed this complaint on 2/18/2020, after we had already cancelled the memberships with no cancellation fees, which is what her desired outcome is stated to be, and again, she was made aware of this via voicemail message that I specifically left for her, at 920-857-6747 on 2/14/2020. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I have tried to call them numerous times, I have left voicemaiils, I have sent messages via email and via facebook messanger. They stated that the membership has been closed, BUT we keep getting calls from the bank that they are still trying to charge it.
