My cousin is from Germany and visited us last September. While here she saw a puppy she wanted but it was too young at the time to go back to Germany with her. She asked us to raise it until it was six months old and then she would come back and pick it up in February. In the course of caring for this puppy, we took it to University Place Veterinary Hospital in University Place, WA. for his puppy innoculations. His transponder chip and rabies vaccine were all done at University Place Vets. They forgot or overlooked a step in one of his innoculations, failing to mix the main part of the vaccine with its other part. We were called and told we had to bring him back in to have this done, which we did. They also allegedly installed a transponder chip in the puppy and applied his rabies vaccine, which has to be done at the time the transponder was installed. After this was all done, we left Washington to winter in Arizona. My cousin arrived, as scheduled, on February 7, 2020 and scheduled to return to Germany on February 21st. We took the puppy to *** in Surprise, AZ for his international health certificate, required for travel to Europe. When the vet at *** examined him, they routinely scanned him for his chip and could not find one. They then xrayed him and confirmed that there was no chip. This required him to be re-chipped, revaccinated and, because the rabies vaccine will not become effective for 21 days, caused my cousin to have to extend her stay here until 9 March, 2020, which caused her much expense for changing her flight and extending her rental car. I have been in contact with Julie *** (***), one of the administrators of University Place Vets. I have supplied her with a list of all additional expenses incurred by my cousin as a result of the inadequate vet services at University Place Vets. I have received no indication that they plan to compensate my cousin for this professional error on their part
We have attempted to resolve this issue with Mr., and
the reimbursement offer was declined. We have turned this case over to our
professional liability insurance and can no longer discuss any further.
