CONSUMER REBUTTAL (CID ***)
In late December 2014, just before Christmas, our 55" televsion stopped working altogetherNo picture would come onThis followed weeks of the screen frequently being very green, or very redApparently there was at least one problem with the ten-year old television.I called Universal ElectronicsThey called back, and said they would come out over the weekendHe showed up, a bit lateWe explained the history, though he seemed somewhat disinterested, and we explained we did not want to put much money into the aging setHe opened the set, replaced the color wheel, and suggested replacing the lampWe agreed, reluctant about the total $bill, but at least it seemed the television seemed good for now.By the time the technician got out to his car, already the color was off againHe came back in and adjusted the setWithin a day or two, it was again showing only green, or only redMessages went unanswered, for about a week or more, in between short visits where the tech suggested a new part was neededAfter several visits, numerous phone calls that went unanswered for weeks or more, and several broken promises about servicing the television, a previous complaint to the Revdex.com seemed to spur some responseA used part was 'fixed' because a new part was said to be unavailable, and the television was apparently fixed by March 28, No further chargeThe tech noted that if this does not work, he would keep trying to get a new part.About Thursday, July 16, the television stops working againNo notice this time, just no pictureI called the technician, and he said he would be here some time Saturday morningAfter waiting all morning, we called him about noonHe said he would come by about or 6, and call beforehandI went to do some errands, and got home by 4:By we called again, and no response no answer. We will replace the television with nothing further to do with this technician except to request partial refund of the $405.
Billing Adjustment
Had we known that the television needed several parts, costing several hundred dollars or more, we would have passed, and bought a new computerWe explained that we did not want to spend much to repair the televisionAll things considered, he should have told us he was not sure he could fix it economicallyWe would like a refund of at least half the total billed, or $203.

Date Sent: 8/11/7:41:PM[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: First, there was no response or offer Second, it was full of lies For example, we told him up front that first the color was bad, then the picture stopped completely After he replaced he color wheel and lamp -- before he even left! -- the color problem arose, and he came back in that same visit to try to fix it What he ignores is that we called him to fix the t.v., not to fix the color wheel, or the lamp, we wanted an estimate to fix the t.v If he told us up front that it would take three parts and lots of expense, we would not have kept the 10-year old t.vand would have replaced it immediatelyHe never dealt with us in an honest manner.Regards,*** ***

When I arrived to the customer’s house, the T.V had no sound or picture; I changed the color wheel and the lamp, and the T.V started working. I was informed that there were issues with the color intermittently, I have been to the customer’s house two to three times and I concluded that the T.V has a problem with the DMD board. I am working with the customer and we are working on a solution to this problem.
