Universal Builders

DO NOT HIRE- Company uses unlicensed subs(or at minimum won't have anyone with a license overseeing your job nor will they know anything abotu building code), cuts corners, shingles over wood rot, does not follow installation guidelines for the products they use (they didn't cut ventilation holes for my ridge caps, so they don't function as ventilation and are purely for looks), left over 100 nails on my property, will not answer or respond to calls or emails and will likely completely forget about your job after you pay. They will bill you and your insurance even after the job is finished and you have been final invoiced. They will supplement your insurance to fix their own mistakes. When you bring it up they ignore you and drag their feet hoping you give up. For me personally this led to over 7 thousand dollars in roof damage on a "brand new roof" as well as needing to replace windows and siding due to them dragging out patchwork repairs for almost 2 years. Almost $15,000 dollars later its a BIG NO FROM ME DAWG.

PHOTOS DONT EVEN SHOW THE HALF OF IT! This is how they left my house after almost 2 years of trying to let them rectify their mistake. They continually tried to convince me that this was code. Then the owner's wife tried making a fake review to discredit my honest yelp review. Sharing so no one else gets taken for a ride by this dishonest company.

Universal Builders did an excellent job. Weather was scorching hot and the roofers never stopped working. My hats off to the crew. A few things I pointed out that I wanted changed and Travis, the site manager, was all over it. Bottom line; he wanted to make sure the customer was happy. Timely responses from management, scheduling.. everyone was very responsive. Brandon was very thorough while explaining what to expect, timelines etc. Would highly recommend.

Universal Builders did an excellent job. The crew that did my roof was hardworking and efficient. Their cleanup was good, which was more than I could say for the gutter crew who left a mess. Emmanuel, who was my contact throughout the process, was accessible and a pleasure to work with. I would recommend Universal anytime.

I cant say I was surprised when the universal builders installed roof buckled. It has been six years since their disastrous installation. The UB roofers arrived in a stretch van well past its prime. They threw open the hood and have the old gal a drink. It turned out, none of their equipment was much better. From the broken device to get the bundles to the roof to the nail gun hose that frequently disconnected and flew about like a run away fire hose -it was a comedy of errors. Except this was my house and my roof and it turned out to be a nightmare. Thank God I stayed home that day- I stopped them from incorrectly installing the ice shield. I had to call to get the supervisor on site and he made them too it all off and re do it. He frequently disappeared for hours at a time. Their work was sloppy - the wrong color caulking and made a mess of the garage doors. What's worse the roof leaked from the start! Oh the sent people to fix it time and again and repaint my water stained ceilings but who wants to go through that? every time we had a bad rain my wife and I would have anxiety attacks
Both my local roofer and their guy said the buckle was caused by bad installation of some osb. Oh UB roofers aid they will fix the buckle but I have decided to pay the $2,500 rather than have them on my roof again. That should tell you all you need to know.
Save yourself the stress and go elsewhere..

Universal Builders was our contractor after storm damage in May, 2018. From the get-go, they were prompt with phone calls, service, installation, and follow up. Our work was completed in January, 2019. I recommend them as a general contractor for siding, roof and guttering. Their service and concerns were always top priority.

From the start I started dealing with Universal Builder (UB), they served as an impressive advocate and liaison between me and my insurance company. UB worked hard to assure my claim was properly processed and continue to work to make sure my insurance company follows through with the full payment of my claim. UB has proven to be responsive to all my questions and concerns. All the staff I have dealt with have been responsive and provide good communications. My project is now completed and it looks beautiful, there were a few follow up items that needed attention but UB has taken care of these items quickly after I brought it to their attention.

Best contractor I have ever worked With. Did everything they said they would plus. Jumped they hoops to represent me in dealing with my insurance. Finally, first class work.

Universal Builder has been from the beginning a pleasure to work with. They are professionals in every way; the responsibility, the communication, the feedbacks, jobs well done and on time with excellent outcomes, to my complete satisfaction. I will definitely work with them in the future!!!!

Great customer service. They helped with getting repairs to our home and a new roof after a storm. They worked with our insurance company directly, which made tbe process easy and seamless.

Fantastic and professional company

They do good work when the decide to do it (except their cleanup after the roof work was not complete). Getting them to do it and keeping the customer informed is a different story. Will not go into the entire ordeal (unless requested). It took them over 6 months to do a roof, repair some siding, and paint 2 interior rooms. Taking out issues on our side, it was still 5 months. During that time the only contact we had, initiated by them, was to sign contracts and contract changes and to get paid. We fired them once due to lack of communication but gave them a second chance on their word they would improve. They did not. There were things on the invoice that were not performed (this happened twice). They gladly removed the items, but the question is, were they trying to get more money or were not aware of the work they had completed. After the 6 months, when the work was finally done, they expected final payment in 4 days (actually they wanted it sooner but we were out of town). Bottom line, if you are looking for a contractor who focuses on your satisfaction and works with you every step of the way, Universal is not for you. They came highly recommended but came nowhere close to the hype.
