I had United Plumbing Heating Air & Electric come out to check the smoke detectors in a property that I'm selling in San Diego next week They were on time and called to advise me that two smoke detectors did not work I was shocked to hear the quoted price to install two "replacement" smoke detectors at $398.00! I was given the option to have all seven existing smoke detectors replace at the bargain price of $698.00! I can buy the best smoke detectors that Home Depot sells for about $each! If I was still in San Diego I would have done the job myself!
Our client reported United had installed a new A/C a year earlier, He provided the phone number so we could arrange an appointment as the A/C was not working The tech set the appointment with the tenant After examining the A/C the tech reported to us that the coil was extremely dirty, the gas pressure very low indicating the system had a leak and the he found oil leaking from the condenser When I asked the tech hadn't United just installed the unit new last year, he responded No He went on to say the tag on the condenser unit read 2004...perhaps it was the original unit?? His estimated cost to clean the coil and recharge the gas was $ He stated this price included a $discount..so actual cost was $ Being as our client said the unit was new and United had installed it, I called our client explaining what the tech had reported...ie..United not having record of any installation He said they never provided an invoice and charged his credit card as it was his grand daughter that was living in the condo at that time We had a different company examine the A/C The tech found the gas level fine..in fact it was a little overcharged, no oil leak from the condenser and the coil a little dusty When I asked him about the age of the unit, he found the tag on the condenser and determined it to be a new unit as of The only real problem was a defective thermostat

Our client reported United had installed a new A/C a year earlier, 2013. He provided the phone number so we could arrange an appointment as the A/C was not working. The tech set the appointment with the tenant.
After examining the A/C the tech reported to us that the coil was extremely dirty, the gas pressure very low indicating the system had a leak and the he found oil leaking from the condenser. When I asked the tech hadn't United just installed the unit new last year, he responded No. He went on to say the tag on the condenser unit read 2004...perhaps it was the original unit?? His estimated cost to clean the coil and recharge the gas was $588.88. He stated this price included a $200 discount..so actual cost was $788.88.
