Car returned by business with interior damage to steering wheel leather finish
Purchase visit 6 Sept 2017, *** 2011, Invoice #***, $175.09 w/tax by credit card for penetrating oil rust proofing at Uniglass Ziebart. Car was dropped off at 9:00am for oil (rust)treatment and picked up at 3:08pm. Contaminant was observed on steering wheel upon taking off with car and return to Ziebart to complain about the chemical reaction to the steering wheel leather wrap which resulted badly damaged on top of the wheel where attendant placed his contaminated hand with oil or other solution on his hand. The attendant denied any responsibility to the damage presented. Since the owner was not available at the time , I returned the following Monday Sept 11 at 11:00am to share my concerns with the handling of my car while in the care of Uniglas Ziebart with the owner "***" and he brushed it off as not caused by his employees and that I had brought my car in with a damaged steering wheel.No solution or amicable resolution to my concerns/complaint were discussed or any willingness to address issue by the business owner.
A steering wheel part replacement is $650 without installation..

Good morning I have reviewed this complaint with the head office ,my store manager *** and my business partner . I have been in the business for 28 years and I have never have any chemical damage and type of leather ,material or painted surfaces . We do have pictures of the steering wheel and you can tell that this is normal wear and tear . Even if you were to wipe the wheel down with anything ,it would not damage it like that .I am sorry but have made a decision that we will not be paying for the steering wheel replacement ,this is normal were and tear .

It is unfortunate that the business owners have deemed my complaint as trying to capitalize on a situation. Unfortunately, I am on the receiving end of a a bad situation trough no fault of mine and the business has dug in their heels and puts the blame on me. Due to the mishandling of my vehicle as described originally, the "Business" would not admit to as this would be a confession of being at fault.
I am an honest person and when in the wrong, I fix what was was done wrong.
Not much for me to add, the argument brought forward by the "Business" is an easy cop out and they can wash off their hands .
At my second visit with the business partner, no effort or acknowledgement was made to resolve the issue. For a business that deals in car detailing and improvement plus exceptional customer care, no solution or proposal was brought forward to somehow address this. That is when I found out that the damage from the contaminant was harsh enough that the steering wheel finish cannot be restored to it's original state after inquiring around.
Therefore, due to bad shop practice, moving cars around with soiled hands and clothing have left it's mark on my vehicle. I inquired about a replacement wheel from the dealership and that is pegged at $650. Not where I was going with my initial complaint but that's where I'm left off at with the business owners!
I wish I could post my picture here to show how bad this is!
So, I am not used to dealing with this type of individuals and may have been naive in thinking they would actually care about the after service!
Hopefully, they will at least learn that you do not move vehicles in & out of their shop without taking proper care to not contaminate their customers vehicles!
I am extremely disappointed that I was painted in a bad light but this, in the*** optics, is a case of "he said, she said".
