I have called the billing office of UCHealth including supervisors many times to get this settled & each time my information can not be found, faxes can't be found even after confirming the fax number multiple times & even having fax confirmation still CAN'T BE FOUND & issue can't be resolved. When my appointment was first billed (6/5/17) their was a mistake with my insurance not covering it which I had called the billing office of UChealth, to let billing know I am working on the issue with insurance & to put my account in dispute. I was told that they confirmed it was in dispute & I would receive a letter confirming the account was in dispute & while in dispute account would not go to collections until further response from UCH. I did receive that letter saying it wouldn't go to collections while in dispute but two weeks later with NO CONTACT AT ALL FROM UC HEALTH I got a call from collections regarding this account which is when I was pushed to pay the amount of $144.15. Two days after paying this amount I got a letter from my insurance with a updated Explanation of Benefits showing they covered the appointment billed for $214 at 100%. I requested a refund with UCH for the amount of $144.15 as it was now a overpayment for the appointment & was denied. I called to understand denial and was told they would be refunding it to Anthem Insurance WHICH HAS NOT BEEN MY INSURANCE FOR OVER 3.5 YEARS!! The refund should be paid to me as I was the one that paid it out of pocket! I was asked to fax over the updated EOB which I did on 1/19/18 with fax confirmation & even called to confirm the fax number was correct (it was) I called on 1/25/18 if fax was received and was told they can not find it & that typically faxes are received & updated to an account within 72 hrs.(mine was well over 72 hours) but they can't find my fax & to wait longer. This is the same response I always receive, I am asked to do more footwork for them (calls/faxes etc) that results in the issue continuing to not getting resolved.
:We were able to resolve this patient’s billing concern. When she contacted our customer service billing center, the EOB that she faxed to us, was a duplicated claim which was denied by insurance as a duplicated claim. Unfortunately, this was not researched and insurance should have been contacted for clarification.UCHealth contacted the patient’s insurance and they acknowledged their error and they confirmed that they would be reprocessing the claim and paying the claim in full.A refund check request was submitted and placed into the mail on February 20th. I contacted and left the patient a voice message today to confirm if she has received the refund check. This was resolved on February 14th.Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future. I did leave you a voice message today. Thanks,Donna M, MBAHospital Billing Escalation Specialist, Customer ServiceUniversity of Colorado Health
