Auto: 2002 Volvo S40 Sedan, 110,000 miles. Observation: Will not drive, appears to be blown head gasketTimeline: On or about June 15, 2013 I took my granddaughter's Volvo S40 to my friend [redacted] garage (Two Nuts and a Bolt in Savannah) to be repaired. I had to have it towed...but was told by [redacted] that it should not bee too bad and would probably take a week or so.On or about July 15, was told to pick up Volvo and pay $1,600 (in cash). I requested a detailed receipt and was told one would be mailed to me. NEVER HAPPEN Drove car back to Bluffton and all seemed fine for two days. Then same problem returned. Was told to return car, but upon driving 15 miles, car totally broke down and again had it towed to his shop. During this timeline, several phone calls took place asking why it was taking so long to repair. Several different explanations were offered, most dealing with either his purchasing a "used" head and/or sending the "used" head to Jacksonville, FL for reconditioning. Several weeks transpired and another call said that he had ordered another head from California and that it would arrive Monday, then Wednesday, then Friday/Saturday. Again he said the next Monday and finally it was August 18th or thereabouts. My granddaughter had to report to college in Conway, SC on August 26th and time was running out. I emphasized to [redacted] the importance of getting this corrected and on time as she needed a way to get back and forth to college. Later about August 18th or so while driving to Conway, the car broke down exactly the same way as before in Walterboro SC. Hired tow truck to drive Volvo to North Myrtle Beach. They told me that it was a blown head gasket and would cost over $2000 to repair. I called [redacted] and he said to have it towed back to his shop(a $228 charge) and he would look into it and fix it under warranty. This was done on or about August 23 and it has been at his shop ever since. I have called him 21 times leaving messages and he has NEVER returned ANY CALLS
