Twin Pines Exteriors Reviews (%countItem)

We hired Twin Pines to put on a new roof and install new gutters and downspouts. Initially it seemed to go well. We were impressed by their efforts to protect the landscaping and clean up the job site. That disappeared completely by the second day. They damaged mature bushes and numerous perennials and left the job site strewn with debris and garbage. When we pointed this out to Craig ***, who was managing the job, he did nothing to fix it.
Twin Pines finished the roof and when it came time for them to install the gutters and downspouts, things grew much worse. At the time we signed the contract, we specified 3-inch round corrugated downspouts to be installed at the same location--corners of the house--as the existing downspouts (also 3-inch round corrugated). Craig *** said that these were a “custom” order and charged us an additional $1000. Eventually they came out to do the work. Their crew was loud, rude and obnoxious, and they ended up installing the wrong downspouts in the wrong configuration and in the wrong locations (right down the front facade of the house). They also left behind copious amounts of debris and garbage.
These deficiencies were immediately brought to the attention of Craig ***, who acknowledged the errors, writing,“I’m so sorry the downspouts were installed differently than we discussed. I will definitely make sure this is corrected.” Instead of doing this, however, Twin Pines subjected us to months of delays, broken promises and outright lies.
I received an email from the owner of Twin Pines, Nathaniel ***. No salutation, no apology, just a brusque statement that: “We cannot find the smaller corrugated downspout...” What followed was an absurd string of emails in which they insisted over and over that they could not acquire the correct downspouts. We contacted numerous suppliers and let Mr *** know that they were readily available. We even sent him an invoice from his own supplier showing that the downspouts and accessories could ship within days. They simply would not agree to order and install the correct materials for which they were charging us an additional $1000.
It became clear that we could not get Twin Pines to fix their deficient work, so we attempted to negotiate a settlement. Initially, Nathanial *** accepted our offer (“I will revise the bill and send an email tomorrow”), only to renege the next day. Fed up with Mr *** refusal to act in good faith, we finally sent him a check clearly notated “Full and Final Payment”. He cashed the check and then immediately started threatening a lien. We responded by reiterating all the defects and deficiencies of Twin Pines’ work, including a video of the now leaking gutters.
We regret ever having hired Twin Pines. The experience has been nothing but negative. Based on our experience, we found Twin Pines, and Nathaniel ***, to be unprofessional, untrustworthy and dishonest.

This is a recent roof and gutter install. She will not answer her phone regarding the balance of the bill. The roof went well, she never told us about any landscaping issues or loud and rude employees until this review. Our contract stated the standard round 4” corrugated downspouts. After install she did not like the look and wanted smaller corrugated downspouts. She also wanted them installed improperly hooked all together because she didn’t like the look of the downspouts on her house. Originally through our local supplier we could not find 3” corrugated downspouts. She found them online from some company that could ship them in. I offered to buy those and install them, she said I was trying to lie to her and she didn’t want us to come back. I offered her $1000 off her bill for the for the misunderstanding on the size of the downspouts. Since then she will not answer her phone or will not pick up the two pieces of registered mail I sent. This could have gotten taken care of a long time ago if the owner would answer her phone or emails. I explained multiple times we never charged her the additional $1000 for the downspouts.

DO NOT USE TWIN PINES! We chose Twin Pines Home Improvement to do a tear off roof replacement on our 1956 ranch house in Bayside in 2017. I regret that decision every single time I look at the front of my house. Every single day I look at a roof that wasn't installed properly. it's functional, for the most part, but looks awful. The company was unable to accommodate some of the unique attributes of my roof decking when they installed the new roof and the result is bent/crooked metal valleys that don't run in the lowest point of the valley. Later it was discovered that a gutter apron was cut too short causing water to run behind the gutter and rot out the fascia, some molding and penetrate into a wall. I had been going around and around with the owner of the company trying to get this part of the roof redone. Even though one valley in paticualar looks horrible, because the valleys are not leaking, they have refused to do anything. On two different occasions the owner of Twin Pines tried to blame the work on the way my house was built and said, "It's not my fault your house was built that way." After 2.5 years of back and forth nothing has been done and they refuse to do warranty work. I wondered why the building inspector didn't flag this after the work was done. It turns out that Twin Pines never pulled a permit even though it is required in my municipality and I was told part of the cost was a permit. I spent nearly $15,000 on a roof with crooked valleys, an area that has failed and it diminishes my property value. This contractor's word on the warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on.

Do not recommend! In 2014 we hired Twin Pines Home Improvement to recommend a solution for our attic insulation issue as the insulation was old and we had ice damming. They recommended a layer of blow in foam insulation, and we completed the project with them. We are now selling our home, and during the home inspection the inspector said we need attic baffles. We haven't had issues with our attic since this company did the work, so we agreed that we would contact the company and have them write a letter stating that the work they did was done correctly and that air flow was sufficient. They came out and said that yes, there is airflow, but they refused to write us a letter stating so. They tried to get us to spend $1,200 extra to install the baffles, even though they said there is airflow. I feel they are trying to get more money out of us for a project that doesn't need to be done. They do not stand behind their work and were extremely unprofessional and took a long time to get back to us despite several emails and phone calls. I will never give this company a nickel! If you are looking for insulation work I would recommend Alpine Insulation or Amundson Insulation as they were more than helpful, professional and extremely friendly!

we fixed Ms. ice dam problems in 2014. We held back the insulation from the soffits. The fact that there was not vent chutes installed does not mean the job was not done properly. The contract did not state there would be vent chutes installed.
Ms. is trying to sell her house and wanted a letter to satisfy the realtor that the ventilation was correct. Twin Pines is not a licensed consultants and opts to not write any letters stating our opinions.
Her issue was fixed in 2014 and it seems she is upset because we would not write a letter for her.

Was very pleased with Jon’s focus on our specific roofing problem. He had excellent communication with us and was always prompt in answering our questions. Job was done on schedule and clean up excellent.

I worked with Jon who was awesome to work with. We are selling our home and during inspection found out we had water leaking by our chimney and had to get it fixed in about two weeks time. Jon came over to look for the problem on a Saturday and came back on Wednesday to do the repair. With all the stress that comes along with moving this was one company that really worked with me to get the job done at a great price. I would highly recommend Twin Pines to anyone that needs work done.
