Review: Business owner signed a contract with homeowners to replace roof at a set price. Business owner received full contract price plus negotiated extra to cover labor to repair holes in roof. Business owner underestimated cost of materials and wanted home owners to pay over and above contract price for the materials to finish the roof. Business owner failed to honor his contract by accepting payment in full (contracted price) payment for job then not paying his supplier. Supplier wants paid and since the contractor won't pay his bill, supplier under WA State Contractor Lien Law, sent a lien notice to home owners. Unethical business practices in play. Home owners signed a contract in order to guarantee price; apparently signing and honoring contract means nothing to business owner.Desired Settlement: Pay your supplier and return a phone call to your customers.

The contractor went into the supplier and paid the bill after

receiving a call from us. He told my husband it was "standard

practice" to have the lien notices sent out from his supplier. If this

is the case, he should have informed us of this and also had us sign a

lien release.

We consider the issue resolved, but only because we pursued the issue.

Not a good way to end a transaction.

[redacted] did a roof on our house in October 2012 after a big windstorm. He did all the negotiating with the insurance for us and did a beautiful job on the roof. Our roof holds up to the wind and still looks like brand new. [redacted] is totally helpful and just a great person.
