Regarding Complaint *** To be clear, this parent put their child’s mental and physical health in danger by not disclosing serious medical conditions for which the child is currently under treatment with a psychologistAny time a parent puts their child’s safety or health in jeopardy, the
dentist has the right to terminate the procedure in the child’s best interest and not “hold the patient down” as the parent’s father later requestedThe patient pays our office for monitoring and keeping the patient safe, and they pay the pharmacy for the prescription sedation medicationsThe sedation was monitored for over an hour before the mother then divulged pertinent information about her child’s medical condition/mental health instability that was the cause for the termination of the procedureUnfortunately the pharmacy cannot refund a patient after they have already purchased and taken a medicationIn our office we maintain patient safety as our top priorityAs the parents in this case are aware, the other caregivers on the treatment team in our office and at their other offices have been informed of the parents’ behavior and what has transpired hereChild protective services will be contacted if the parents continue to put their child’s mental and physical health in jeopardy
