Richard Yowell of Tree Wizard has a pattern of deception and wrongdoing (5 failed businesses, four former phones, 3 former addresses. Takes as much money as can upfront and leaves the job unfinished. Fails to honor the contract he wrote up and steals customer's hard earned money. Deserves F- rating and no stars
RICHARD YOWELL, OPERATIONS MANAGER FOR TREE WIZARD SIGNED A CONTRACT DATED 3/20/2009 WITH A DEPOSIT OF $2000.00 ADVANCE ( RECEIVED FROM MY HUSBAND AND I ) TO START WORK ON OUR PROPERTY ( LANDSCAPE , SEEDING AND TOPSOIL , MULCHING AND PLANTING .STUMP REMOVAL,INSTALLING DRAIN TILE IN GRAVEL BASE) ON FRONT, SIDE AND BACK YARDS. AS OF TODAY 5/3/19....WITH TOO MANY PHONE CALLS ,TEXTS AND CERTIFIED LETTER ( WHICH HE REFUSED TO SIGN FOR ) MR. YOWELL HAS YET TO START WORK ON OUR PROPERTY. HE HAS BLAMED THE DELAY ON THE WEATHER , ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER HE CASHED OUR CHECK TO HIM FOR THE MATERIALS AND EXPENCES ADVANCE.AFTER SO MANY EXCUSES AND THE REALIZATION THAT HE HAD NO INTENTION OF STARTING THE WORK, I CONTACTED HIM AND VERBALLY VOIDED THE CONTRACT. HE SAID THAT HE UNDERSTOOD AND WOULD RETURN OUR DEPOSIT OF $2000.00. THE VERBAL AGREEMENT TO VOID THE CONTRACT WAS ALSO FOLLOWED BY A CERTIFIED LETTER THAT WAS MAILED TO HIM.
Richard Yowell of New Leaf Tree Service met with us in mid-June and gave us an estimate on clearing land in our backyard, providing the appropriate drainage and seeding, and fencing in the property. Most communication with Richard has been through text messaging; therefore, all agreements are recorded and can be printed through our wireless provider. We have paid Richard over $9,000 of the agreed upon 13,000 project. Richard and his crew showed up everyday for a week and then stopped coming. They have been back only one day for a 3 hour period in the last month. The only progress made on the project is the clearing of the land. No drainage work has been completed, no materials for drainage or fencing have been delivered to our property, and no work to start the fencing project has occurred. Richard has promised via text message multiple times that the project would be completed by the end of the following week. This promise is always followed by yet another week of no crew showing up to work and no progress being made.
70% of the work has been done. The only things left to do are a fence install and drainage pipes. Spoke with Mr. and we will be back on 8/9 to complete the work.
I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I am unsatisfied with this resolution because it is August 9th and Richard Yowell promised that work would start back today; however, just as in the past month and half, no work is being completed. Day after day, they do not show up for work. I am tired of the excuses and unprofessionalism. I would like for the project to be completed; however, we had one rain shower for less than an hour last night and four days of complete sunshine leading up to yesterday. Somehow, the excuse today is still rain. If I were to behave in this way at my workplace, I wouldn't have a job.
