On January 22, 2020 I took my vehicle to the car wash for a wash. Vehicle came out with damage to the left rear bumper. Manager revived footage from camera and established that damage was not there prior to service. He then proceeded to tell me to please get an estimate for the damage. I send the estimate to the manager (Joe) and was told by him that I would have to meet with the owner, witch I did and he refused to pay for the damage to my vehicle.
The vehicle in question is a Lexus which is in the range of 15-20 years old. Here are the pictures of the car entering the tunnel. Although it’s difficult to see, it appears that the paint is already bubbling on that driver rear quarter panel. When the customer showed me the damage, the paint was literally missing from the panel in a very large area. I explained to him that there’s nothing on my car wash, or any other car wash for that matter, that would strip the paint off the panel all the way down to the panel material. The paint had clearly deteriorated due to age or from a bad respray job from a prior accident. No car wash would take responsibility for this type of damage. If you need anything else please let me know. Thank you!

Complaint: ***
The manager at the shop, Joe, viewed video footage from before my vehicle entered the car wash. Joe was very understanding and realized that my vehicle was NOT damaged before entering the business. What Mike does not understand is the fact that my vehicle was damaged at his establishment. Experts can explain to Mike that my vehicle had no damage prior to the car wash and no "bad" paint job. A "little bit of touch up paint" like the business owner informed me is not the solution to the huge paint missing from my vehicle. I was uncomfortable with going into the tunnel to view the equipment since Mike was very defensive and very uncooperative when trying to solve this problem. Common sense and logic is required by a business owner that will take responsibility for the damage that their establishment caused. In fact, there are several hundreds of cases that have been taken to Small Claims Court because of car-wash damages. Might I add, more than half of those consumers win the case.

Let’s stick to the facts, they speak for themselves.1. I don’t have any equipment on the premises that can strip all the paint off your rear quarter panel.2. The car is older, probably 15-20 years old.We pay claims from time to time for a scratch or an antenna. Never for this because it didn’t happen at my establishment.Thank you.
