I have found Town and Country Vet. Clinic to be staffed with highly professional and genuinely caring people. Dr. Michael *** is a extremely knowledgeable and caring doctor.
I would never entertain taking any pet to Town and Country Vet Clinic. I highly advise anyone that cares for the well-being of their animals to never go as well.
I made the mistake of allowing them to remove a mass from my dog. I had called the week of surgery asking for a quote and Dr. *** said he couldn't give me one until the day of which I didn't understand as he just saw us the week before. Dr. *** told me to show up early to meet him to get the quote. When I got there, he wasn't in the office.
The staff thought my dog was there to be neutered (T&C had previously done this) once I cleared up that he was there for a biopsy they told me that he would be the first patient in and that he would be done between 3 - 4pm. I noticed a few small bumps on his back and left a detailed note for Dr. *** of exactly where they were to get them looked at prior to surgery.
I called at 2pm to check on my dog so I could make plans as to when to leave work to pick him up. T&C told me they were just starting the procedure and that I could pick him up at 7:30pm. At 2:30pm Dr. *** called me and said "for the life of me I can't find the mass on the chest you're talking about". I explained I never left a note about a mass on his chest. He then said well everything went well and you can pick him up at 7:30pm.
They called me back again around 5:30pm and said that he would be ready at 6:30pm instead. I told them I needed to talk to Dr. *** when I came in. When I got there at 6:15 rather than letting me talk to Dr. *** first they were more concerned with collecting their money. I paid $715.73, again I NEVER got a quote after asking for over a week.
I was finally put into a room and they brought my dog to me. Dr. *** came in and I showed him the spots I was talking about on his back. He explained to me that the mass went much deeper than they had thought and that it would be sent out to UGA the next day 1.24.20 for analysis. Out of curiosity I asked to see what they had removed. He said he would be right back and he made it part way into the back and then came right back in and said they must've sent it out already but I could see another dogs sample. I politely said no thank you I was just curious to see the mass you removed from MY dog.
I then went on to explain to Dr. *** in detail how unorganized his staff was (thinking my dog was getting neutered, saying he was the first one in etc.) and how awful this whole day had been and that I didn't appreciate NEVER getting a quote. His response was "well what do you want to pay?" I said "that's not the point I already paid so it's done with" I just really didn't appreciate the way I was treated overall. He continued to press me on the price and I said fine "$500" he said ok. He then proceeded to tell me that he's a great person and that's why he's so busy.
He brought in the office manager, Jimmy and was very unprofessional while talking to him with me right there. Dr. *** said "we are giving her the surgery for $400". It took about 15 minutes but they itemized the bill and issued me a refund on specific charges, one of them being the fee to send the sample off to UGA. I was told I would hear back on Wednesday and then I was also told Friday. I waited until Friday and called them. They said it could take up to 14 days, so I waited.
I received a call on Tuesday 2.4.2020 from Jimmy (the office manager) and he told me they had lost the sample in the mail and that it was the courier's fault. I was obviously very upset. I asked for a refund for sending it off to UGA and was told they couldn't give me one since they already had when in reality that was for the trouble I had the day of the surgery NOT specifically for the testing as it was supposed to still go there. It's very convenient that they did it in such a way! I got this taken off specifically to get it tested since Dr. *** was not sure if this mass was cancerous or not.
I asked for the tracking number, courier number & UGA's number and was told I would have it in the morning. I didn't have it the next morning (2.5.20) so I called and was told Jimmy and Sierra were both not there until around 2 but that a note would be left for them to call me. I never got the call back and when I called them back at 4:00 to hear that they were still working on getting the info. On 2.6.20 I called again and left another note for them and again did not get a call back.
I went into Town and Country as I still couldn't get a call back and was told they still didn't have the information but that they were in contact with the courier emailing back and forth. I demanded the information and then left. I got an email on Friday from Sierra that was forwarded from them stating there were 2 samples in ONE bag. One sample had made it but the other hadn't. This made absolutely no sense to me. So now that I had the courier info I emailed her.
The courier told me that when they go to the vet's office, the bags are sealed and that under no circumstances do the couriers open the samples. They take the samples from point A to point B. So clearly, there was only one sample in the bag to begin with.
In my opinion, Town and Country threw out my dog's sample the day of surgery. That is why they couldn't show it to me. It was convenient for Dr. *** to say it was already on its way to the lab.
This review could've been avoided if they were honest from the beginning in all aspects of the procedure and how they handled it afterward. After multiple issues you would have thought in the very least that Dr. *** would have called to check on my pet or to assist with this "lost sample". I was also treated poorly by the staff that became very annoyed that I was trying to find these answers that I believe any owner would want.
I advise anyone reading this to go somewhere different than T&C. I have spoken to many other people that have gone through similar situations. I was even approached by a former employee that said I don't even want to know what goes on behind closed doors there. I regret with everything in me going here and I will never be back.
DrJ [redacted] has been treating our dogs for more than years Our dogs love their visits and always run into see everyone to get love and treats This is a down home county vet office, not over priced city care All the staff are wonderful, and very compassionate in making hard decisions on emergencies and end of life care
Thanks so much to DrL*** and the staff for keeping *** stable until she could be movedThe doctors and staff are so caring and compassionateShe's now home recovering
They told me that I needed to have my dog spade, due to her having a in-larged boob. So we made an appt for Monday June the 18th. We had to drop her off between 7-8am. When we arrived we had to fill out paper work, and we had questions about the paperwork and was told that, we would be contacted before anything would be done to our dog. She told us to put a question mark on the paper work and she would tell them to call us, and to contact them if we haven't heard anything before 3:00pm. We had to wait all morning and no call, then finally we decided to call them at 12:50pm, to see what was going on and why haven't we been contacted to discuss the questions we had. They informed us that she hadn't had surgery yet and if we haven't heard from them before 4:00pm to call back. I didn't understand why they had not called us about the questions we had. Around 3:53pm they called us to inform us that they couldn't do the surgery and to come pick him up, I have a girl dog. We go pick her up and when they bring her out she looks like she been sleep and I proceed to put her leash on her and she couldn't walk and collapsed on the floor. I asked what was wrong with my dog, they had no clue. She couldn't move at all. She had to be carried to the car on a stretcher and she was breathing so hard and fast in the car, I didn't k now what was going on. So I called to speak to a manager and I asked why is my dog drugged up, when on her paperwork it says call before anything is done, which never happened, he couldn't answer that, nor had any knowledge of it. All he proceeded to tell me over and over is that, he's not having the surgery, which once again I have a girl dog. I told him that this is unexceptable, unprofessional, and that they need to know what is going on at all times. He never not once apologized to me about the situation, but kept on saying he's not having the surgery loud in my ear. We had to somehow carry a 114 lbs dog in the house, who did not have surgery. She cried all night long.
Other (requires explanation) continue from above: We had to take turns laying with her to keep her calm and from crying. She didn't start eating til Thursday. Resolution: Something needs to be done about this immediately, this isn't how a business is ran. This doesn't need to happen to another animal. The manager is very unprofessional and rude towards people. The vet needs to handle situations way better than this and check all paperwork before any thing is done.
The client, ***, asked to have her pet, Blue, spayed with us. She declined all pre anesthetic testing, and she signed a surgery consent form. The second item in the surgery consent form was "I recognize that during the course of the operation, unforeseen conditions may necessitate additional or different procedures than those set forth above. I further authorize and request that the above named surgeon, his assistant, or his designees perform such procedures as are in his profession judgement necessary and desirable. The authority granted under this paragraph shall extend to remedying conditions not known to the above named surgeon at the time of the operation commenced."
Unfortunately after sedation and before surgery began, the patient's breathing pattern became unstable. Surgery was canceled and the patient was placed on oxygen until the patient became stable. After the patient was stabilized and monitored, the patient was discharged to go home.
While we are very sorry that the patient had a tough night of sleep, the patient was a poor candidate for surgery without pre anesthetic testing. We advised the owner to seek the care of a veterinary cardiologist / internal medicine specialist to determine why the patient had such a poor response to typically used sedation.
Also, we're confused as why the client said "her paperwork it says call before anything is done" as the patient was dropped off for surgery in the morning. She did not list any notes to call before surgery was performed.
We are sorry that the client feels like we did not effectively communicate throughout the day to her as we are a very busy veterinary hospital that also sees emergencies throughout the day.

Dr. J[redacted] has been treating our dogs for more than 10 years. Our dogs love their visits and always run into see everyone to get love and treats. This is a down home county vet office, not over priced city care. All the staff are wonderful, and very compassionate in making hard decisions on emergencies and end of life care.
I went because I was referred to them hoping they would save my puppies from parvo. I was told that I wasn't fit to have my dogs because I didn't have the money to treat them. In the middle of me crying after being told this my brother was told by one of the ladies working there "I hope you get parvo or some kind of disease and die" , she also told him he was a "pk". All because she thought he was laughing when he was smiling at his girlfriend after telling her that he was going to get me a new puppy for Christmas. He explained that to her and she said that he shouldn't do that because we couldn't financially take care of the ones we had we shouldn't get another one. They told us they would only save them if we surrendered them. Of course all I could think was surrendering them so they wouldn't suffer. She said they would be put up for adoption if they were able to survive the disease but when I asked if we could adopt them back I was told no that I wasn't in a fit environment for an animal. These are one of the times I wish I could have thought about pulling my camera out and recording these hateful things that were said to me and my brother. I was very very attached to them drove 2 hours to try and save them because I had no other choice because I didn't have 100s of dollars to treat them. So I'm not fit to have an animal? Very rude of her to say any of these things to anyone. I hope she's fired.
Other (requires explanation) Honestly I believe I have right to adopt them back if they survive the disease just as much as anyone else. These are my babies. And she should be fired for wishing death on a child. I know we didn't financially have the money at the time but I would do anything to have my babies back. Please help me.
