Project: Remodel a Kitchen
Comments: I first contacted Fred [redacted] last fall, when I began to seriously consider renovating our home. I knew very little about contractors, construction, and my husbandâ??s job left him with very little time for such projects. Our home was built in the early 1960's and had not had a serious "facelift" since, just minor repairs. Fred agreed to come and to meet with my husband and I at our convenience. We discussed our hope to completely remodel our kitchen and upstairs bath, and possibly do more remodeling in the future. Fred told me that our home was classic "mid-century modern", complete with a bathroom that featured apink toilet and bathtub and grey and pink tiling - in other words - hideous! The bath was also small, but he suggested that removing the shower curtain and getting a glass door for the tub/shower and adding decorative tiling in the tub would not only create the illusion of more space - it would give the bath a thoroughly modern look. We then moved on to the tired old kitchen, which Fred and his crew transformed into a room that now looks worthy of inclusion in a Home Decor magazine. Fred takes genuine pride in his work, and remains involved all through the process, checking in frequently to see how a project is coming along and offering suggestions and remedies when a problem arises; which was especially helpful in our case. We were so pleased with the kitchen/bath that we later requested that he retile our downstairs stairway and entryway as well as redo our second bathroom. If you want a "hands on" contractor to guide you every step of the way though, Fred is your man. He and his team are excellent!
