In May I brought in a pair of boots for repair. I tried to pick them up on 8/10/13 but he donated them to Goodwill. This was my first time using this repair shop and I brought in a pair of boots that I'd only worn 3 times where only one boot needed a slight repair. He gave me a ticket. I work out of town so can only get there on Saturdays and on my first attempt to pick them up I discovered he closes for lunch every day from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Every time I've tried to pick them up it seemed I was in that area of town only during his lunch hour. One time I got there at 1:10 p.m. and found a sign saying he was closed until 1:30 p.m. that day. I finally made it to the shop on 8/10/13, presented my ticket and was told he had donated my boots to the Salvation Army. When I asked why, he said all goods left over 30 days get donated. He then pointed to the bottom of the ticket where in tiny print it simply says Not responsible for goods left over 30 days. I asked him why he did not tell me his policy when I left the boots for repair since this was my first time using him and he said, Ma'am, I can't tell every customer my policy. I was in shock and he didn't show the slightest bit of concern. He said he has a small shop and he can't keep things over 30 days. Desired SettlementAs I said above, I had worn these boots three times so I would like him to reimburse me $49.99 so that I may buy another pair of boots. At the very least, he needs to have a big sign made that clearly states his policy AND he should tell each customer his policy.
