They use the term deposit in a contract and in fine print in the contract they say deposit is a fee.
I signed a contract for TMshipping to ship my car. They had a price and said they needed a $100 deposit. I later came to find out that the deposit is their commission or a fee and not a deposit at all and they said that in the fine print of the contract they say that the deposit is a fee. I'm just curious if this is legal to redefine what a word means in a contract. I just want future customers to not fall into the same trap that I did and I believe that companies should not be able to use these kinds of tactics. Businesses should be required to be more upfront with their prices and not be able to hide things like calling a fee a deposit because when I read deposit I think that money is going to go to the final price or they will be giving me my deposit back and not having it redefined later on to be a fee.

They picked up my vehicle and delivered. The vehicle would not start when it came. The driver said they drove it up on the truck. The person I bought it from said it started and drove just fine. I am working on the issue however they did deliver the vehicle.

Deceptive practices regarding overall price/cost for service.
Received a quote (No. XXXXX-WP) to ship my car across county, which was originally $875 but increased to $890. Electronically completed the paperwork which is large font and al of spacing indicated the quote amount of $890 plus $140 deposit. However, in very small font at the bottom for one line it states "All deposits and service fees are final and non-refundable. Deposit if TMShipping service fee. It is not included in quoted price." Clearly, this contract is not valid as it does not clearly define "deposit" and then applies it differently than the standard definition (trying to make it synonymous to "service fee", which is, "a sum payable as a first installment on the purchase of something or as a pledge for a contract, the balance being payable later". Then they advised that it was clearly stated. In no way was it "clearly" stated and they misrepresented the cost in solicitation prior to signing the contract.
