This is really a frustrating experience.
I first came to pep boys at location: 12540 NE 124th St, Kirkland. because of temperature warning. I know coolant level was very low and I need to top up coolant. Then the manager did pressure test and showed me somewhere was leaking and they need to check it out.The next morning he called me and told me they need to replace hose to fix this issue, but he didn't tell me an estimated cost. It was my bad that I didn't ask. He told me that could be done within that day. But technician didn't finish it. So I have to wait until next business day. So far everything seems OK.
I went to pick up my car, shop manager told me overall price is ~1500. After 10% off, I paid $1357.32. But they didn't fix the issue. After one day, my car broke down again when I exited highway, engine suddenly shut down. I have to ask tow service through pep boys. My car was sent to pep boys at above location again. I told them don't fix anything without my permission, but they ignored what I said and fixed one cracked part that they replaced two days ago. I picked up my car and only drove about 10 minutes. I saw steam around hood and checked coolant level. It was already below minimum line. and somewhere was leaking again. I could notice that something was wrong but technician didn't.
Having this experience I decided to send my car to a different pep boys location(12856 NE 85th St, Kirkland). They checked it out and told me water pump was leaking and it costs ~$900. I asked them why water pump issue was not noticed few days ago. They said: "Technician missed it." This is not acceptable excuse and technician is not professional at all.
