Review: Scheduled a home diagnosis for my refrig & frz not cooling for $49.95.Tech arrived 2.5 hours late.He removed refrig backing & stated it was likely a compressor which would cost $600+Tech used a device to measure amps and stated that it was likely a capacitor issue.Tech pulled out of his bag an opened GE OEM Parts plastic bag & pulled out a Supco 3 n 1 Start Capacitor & stated that he only uses GE parts not salvage parts like the others.Tech stated that once he plugged this capacitor in, he would know for what the problem was.Tech plugged in the capacitor & moments later the compressor was working.Tech stated that was it.Tech stated the cost would be $199.95 for the parts & labor and all that was left was to close the refrig.I negotiated & he stated hed need to call his office (I later learned hes the OWNER!), he rtnd & said he could do $150 cash/check.I declined and wanted to go with the $49.95Tech stated that it was $100 b/c hed had already installed the part & now I would incur labor charges to have it removed (it was my understanding that was all part of the diagnosis, & it was wasnt even a GE part as he stated that was all he ever used.)After all the back and forth, he accepted my $80 check to leave.Called the following day three times to request $30.05 refund, that he could keep the $49.951)Tech agreed to meet after work & refund me $30.05suspicious I called back demanding to meet at lunch.2)Tech agreed to meet stated I would have to sign for refund, then accused me of needing to see a psychiatrist.3)Lunch came & went without a refund. I called Tech again, Tech refused refund, stated I had control issues, hid behind my wife, needed to see a psychiatrist & made references about my anatomy & hung up.Read the reviews at yellowpages.com for Thrifty Budget Appliance Repair in Agoura with same phone number!This business is a set-up. Total fraud, I wish I had seen it coming. Late arrival, crazy excuses about not being able to find the location & needing to go back to the office to look at a map, using parts as OEM GE which were Supco parts, calling his office for price reduction. Then the total unprofessionalism after the fact. I wish I had read all the reviews for Thrifty Budget Appliance Repair with 805-523-3422 phone#. If you have had similar issues, I strongly suggest you report your complaints with the Ventura District Attorneys Office 654-2500 Consumer Mediation/Fraud.Desired Settlement: I want a full $80 refund. At first I was agreeable to him returning my $30.05 and to make nothing more of this. I agreed to meet him on two separate occasions and write him a new check or pay him cash. He refused and made several inappropriate statements/accusations. I have now spent more time addressing these issues as a result of his dishonesty than he spent messing around with my refrigerator.
