I do not recommend this business. Especially if you'd like something made from yards of fabric. Especially if you value honesty and professionalism. And do not ever bring anything there as a model for alterations if you expect to get that piece of clothing back.
I paid Ron hundreds of dollars and allowed 2.5 months of work time for a dress that did not turn out wearable. Judging by the final result of the dress, Ron either rushed to complete the dress in time or is not comfortable making African dresses from wax print. As the dress is right now, I couldn't wear it to the wedding I had it made for. Multiple people pointed out that the dress is ill-fitting and does not look well constructed.
Now here comes the real meat of this issue. When I asked Ron to make this dress, I brought with me a simple blue dress I had made years ago to use as a model for measurements and shape. Ron took that dress apart completely and never put it back together. This is abhorrant given that 1) the blue dress fit me like a glove so obviously the dress he made for me was not an exact copy of the blue dress as I requested and 2) that Ron tried to argue with me that he didn't have to put the dress back together and that I would have to pay him extra for that. WHAT? Who takes someone's clothing apart and then tells them they have to pay to get it sewn back together? After I explained that that was unacceptable and if he had clearly stated that from the beginning, I would NEVER had left one of my favorite, handmade dresses from my time in Ghana in his shop for him to destroy, Ron promised to sew my blue dress back together and mail it to me- as I was moving out of Philly that week.
This was in May 2019. After months of back and forth. Constant promises to put my dress in the mail, do you think I have my blue dress back? No. The answer is no. It is October 2019 and I still have not received my dress back.
