On January 20, 2020, I received a call from Amanda with a discounted rate for subscription of local newspaper, $20.99 to start then $14.00 a month. I agreed, gave them my debit card information. They took out $20.99 and $14.00 on January 23, 2020. I called and cancelled the account because that was not agreed on, also, went bank and canceled debit card account.
Our Operations Manager, *** attempted to speak with *** regarding her complaint on 2/19/2020. *** hung up on ***. He wanted to advise her that she had a past due balance on her account of $69.28. We failed to write off the balance prior to starting the subscription, therefore our system applied the payment to balance. Since there was a remaining balance, it went ahead and charged her for the next subscription. We will be issuing a refund for $34.99. The individuals she wishes to put on notice are employed by the third party vendor that does telemarketing for our business. We cannot put them on notice but have notified the supervisor of individuals as we want to convey excellent customer service. We would have liked to issue an apology to *** had she given us a chance. Should she need to speak with someone at our local office, she can contact *** directly ***. Refunds are issued with 7 days of request and received with 14 days.
To this date, I have not received my refund.
Our customer service manager was able to reach *** today and she confirmed she received her refund in the right amount. Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I cancelled my subscription in September. They stopped delivery, but continued to bill me. they sent me a refund check for $578.73, but they put it in my husbands name. The bank will not cash it, nor deposit it. The news-paper will not issue a new check.
The business called me and stated they had made an error and that they would be providing me a full refund. This dispute has been resolved to my satisfaction.
I have been a long time subscriber to the Southern illinsoian. Since August I have been having delivery problms. My old carrier retired and I got a new one. He left me his card with name and phone number. I have tried calling but phone number is wrong. I have to call the paper on a daily basis to try and get my paper. When I call I am told that my account will be credited and then I demand to have a paper delivered on that day. Sometimes I receive one late afternoon. Yesterday Sept 30, I was contadted by *** from the Southern. He said he would call the carrier and give him direction to my house and have him contact me. He did not contact me. This carrier should know my address after leaving me a card with his name on it. Once again this morning Oct 1 I had to call the paper and tell them I didn't receive a paper and demand they send me one.
Is there anything you can do to help me.
Our Operations Manager, *** contacted *** and she reported she had received the newspaper the past few days.
The newspaper independent contractor had quit in her area and a substitute was having trouble finding addresses. We believe the issue has been resolved and offered *** a discount for her trouble.

I have had a subscription for over 10 years with a daily delivery. The first of the year I start noticing about 1 missed delivery each week. Each time I call your automated answering system it transfers me to someone not able to help.
I will reach out to customer today. Work with him on his issue. I will also give him a month free to help. Also I will have the District Manager reach out to carrier to find out what is going on

I received a letter addressed to a home I haven't lived in for 3 years
telling me that my account is past due and I owe $12.45 for a subscription
payment. I called the phone number provided and was told the bill is for
February 25, 2013 thru March 31, 2003. I asked why I haven't been contacted sooner and was told they are going thru old accounts.
I don't wish to have a poor credit rating for a ridiculous bill of this small amount but don't feel I owe them for something 5 years old and have never been contacted before this.
I now live in Arizona and cannot go to their office to resolve.
In my opinion, this is an extremely poor business practice and would like them to remove my name from their delinquent accounts.
The former customers balance has been removed. We do not report past due balances to the Credit Bureau. - ***, Circulation Director

We have paid by check for a year's subscription. We have yet to receive a paper. We are only getting the Sunday paper. They won't give us the carrier's number to contact. This has been going on for the last two weeks.
We have record of the customer's missed papers and have given credit. Our newspaper carriers are independent contractors, therefore we require permission from them to give out their phone number. We have contacted the contractor about missed papers and the carrier has assured us he will deliver. We do not have permission to give out the contractors phone number.
We AGAIN have paid for a year subscription of the Sunday paper and we did not get our paper the 6th or the 13th of January. My wife called 3 times regarding delivery and we still have received nothing.
We would like them to deliver our past 2 papers as well as each paper we are to receive in the future.
We will deliver missed papers. I highly recommend the customer call our customer service department at *** in order to receive missed deliveries.
