Wouldn't exchange an unopened, wrong sized product
I purchase $5000 worth of appliances from this store. Unfortunately, due to a 4 month kitchen cabinet delays these appliances had to sit in boxes for months before installation. When time came to install them, the contractor noticed that the microwave combo was undersized. The Range Hood Store refused to exchange an unopened appliance with a proper sized product. What upset me the most is that initially they offered me the option to exchange, and after discussing with my contractor when I called them to setup the exchange they refused to do so citing a 30 days return policy. In a market where renovations are getting delayed, how good is a 30 day return policy? This company definitely does not know how to flex for their customer.

Very poor business practices
~ Extremely poor installation documentation for products
~ Slow delivery time (Nearly 7 weeks for our initial order, missed 2 delivery dates)
~ Poorly designed product (Range hood sent with chimney that is 2 inches too tall for standard 8’ ceiling to force additional purchase of a “short” chimney)
~ Poor customer service/communication
~ “No return" policy
Very poor business practices

The case referenced submitted 12/22/-- [redacted] had called us in June of to report the noisescoming from his range hood, we discussed his application and mounting height above his grill should bebetween 36-40" and this will affect the operation of the unitHe insisted that the manual said to mountbetween 28-36", I tried to explain that over a grill this is not the case for the mounting heightI sent a fullreplacement dual blower assembly; and I reiterated the mounting height needed to be adjusted.Because our warranty is for parts only, I sent the parts at no chargeI could not cover the labor.Customer is again contacting us, says he won't talk with me, because I could not pay his labor bill on theparts installation, He also did not make the original purchaseHe is twisting my words of conversations past, and keeps insisting the manual gave him the mounting height that he installed his hoodHe is not makingthat adjustment even though our manufacturer gave us the information that it needs to be mounted higher forthe high heat of a gas grill. Also with this tricky customer, he threatened us and said he would spread bad words across the WWW if wedidn't cover the contractor billsBut he has not adjusted the heightI feel he has already void the warranty. This customer has not requested for additional parts eitherThis is only the 2nd time I have heard from thiscustomer on the follow up of more problemsAlthough I believe he has tried to contact the owner, whotravels a lot to China and is not always available.Very difficult to work with a customer that will not follow advise on product per the manufacturer.Thank you, [redacted] Z Line Kitchen & Bath

I just received a notification that Z Line Kitchen (the range hood store) is shipping via Fed Ex replacement internal parts for the range hood in dispute This is will be the third such shipment of replacement parts since my General Contractor’s purchase (which I paid for) in September of to address metal on metal noise from the fan cages caused by certain plastic parts melting If I installed them, it would mean a third expenditure of a $installation charge (please know that, as unusual as it is, Z Line offers no labor warranty on this product as we learned after the purchase) It would also mean that the same problem would occur in a matter of months when the new plastic parts melted Z Line is telling me to increase the distance from the counter top/grill surface from the minimum of 28”(as stated in their installation manual) to 36” to eliminate the plastic parts melting problem First, prior to making the range hood purchase I looked at more than several of my neighbors outdoor cooking center grill/range hood area All mounted their range hood from 28” to 30” above the grill/counter top This distance is critical in an outdoor enclosed setting so to assure as much smoke venting as possible If Z Line had informed us prior to purchase that even though the installation manual stated a 28” minimum it should actually be installed at a 36” minimum I would not have purchase their product As previously mentioned, the installation/repair technicians I have used stated that they had never seen a range hood with internal plastic parts in the several brands that they had experienced Bottom line, is that this product should not have been sold to me (or anyone else) as an outside range hood period This is why I requested a full refund and why replacement parts make no sense. As you saw in the cooking center area picture I recently sent, the range hood is completely surrounded by tile What this means is that to have an effective smoke venting area I must purchase another range hood from one of several companies that don’t use plastic parts that melt, that can be installed at the 28” minimum so to properly vent the smoke in an outdoor enclosed setting, tear out some of the tile, install the new range hood and replace/add tile A very expensive proposition which represents the second time I will have paid for what I should have paid for one time all due to a flawed product sold to me by Z Line. When I receive the replacement parts I will not have them installed for the above stated reasons When I receive my refund and if Z Line will provide shipping labels, I will return the range hood as well as their un opened box of replacement parts Thank you for your assistance and I would greatly appreciate Z Line’s refund check as soon as possibleFrom: [redacted] My response to statements made by K Line (range hood store) [redacted] in regard to my standing complaint [redacted] [redacted] ’s statements are incorrect First she nor any one from K Line mentioned to my GC or me prior to purchase and installation not to follow the instructions in the installation manual If either of us had been told that the mounting height needed to be 36” to 40” above countertop, the purchase would not have been made Also, there is no mention in the manual of indoor vs outdoor instructions The many grill hoods I, the installers and the technicians who made the repairs have collectively seen are 28” to 36” above the countertop which is consistent with Z Line’s Kitchen grill hood installation manual Once again, the grill hood was installed consistent with the installation manual instructions No technician advised, prior to the installation, not follow the printed instructions in the installation manualFurthermore, please know that once installation was completed tile was installed completely around/adjacent Bottom line, installation/instruction manual are supplied for the specific reasons which if not followed may void a warranty I rest my caseIn a following email, I am forwarding the page in K Lines installation manual that states “The hood shall be installed at 28” minimum to 36” above the counter top” Also, I will include a picture of the cooking center for further clarification. From: [redacted] [mailto: [redacted] ] Sent: Monday, January 05, 11:AMTo: [redacted] Subject: RE: Out Door Grill Hood - [redacted] Sir:I show a purchase by [redacted] in July of 2013.Per the photo shown below, the mounting height has not been adjusted to 36"-40" above the grill as per previous conversations with our technician The mounting height is way too low for the high heat grill and will keep melting parts and if not changed as instructed The warranty may be invalid if the height is not adjusted This statement from below"The installation was made consistent with your installation guide The hood is 1/" from the grill grates and the grill has never been used without the vent on a minimum of speed 2." This is not correct, we spoke specifically about the mounting height over a grill, needs to be much higher the an indoor range application. We did receive a letter from the Revdex.com in regards to your complaint But, if you can not follow the mounting instruction guide to resolve the problem, then it is not our fault your Range Hood parts are melting "Reported in June 2014Our discussion goes back to before we sent parts for the first time the parts melted, sent in June 2014.We are trying to help you, but you have not followed installation guideline for your application, I have only sent you replacement dual blower unit, but all of the parts will keep melting if you do not make adjustments in the mounting height.ZLine Kitchen [redacted] ###-###-#### From: [redacted] Subject: Fwd: Out Door Grill HoodDate: Mon, Nov 12:15:-0500Sent from my iPhoneBegin forwarded message:From: [redacted] Date: November 17, at 11:50:AM ESTTo: " [redacted] Subject: FW: Out Door Grill HoodSecond request Would appreciate a reply-----Original Message-----From: [redacted] Sent: Wednesday, November 12, 10:AMTo: ' [redacted] Cc: [redacted] Subject: Out Door Grill HoodIn September of my GC, [redacted] / [redacted] purchased the attached pictured grill hood from your store The installation was made consistent with your installation guide The hood is 1/" from the grill grates and the grill has never been used without the vent on a minimum of speed 2.Shortly after installation, the unit begin making metal on metal noises resulting in replacement parts being sent and $service bill from [redacted] Several months ago, the same problem once again resurface and resulting in all internal parts being sent and another $service bill.Even though, I was told after the purchase that you provide no labor warranty, your employee [redacted] indicated that in my case labor consideration would possibly be in order After several weeks of her stalling she finally said no labor consideration would be forthcoming Now, and for the 3rd time since my recent purchase, the hood is once again making the same metal on metal noise. The very well respected technicians that performed the repairs indicated that there were certain internal plastic parts that were partially melting that was causing my problemsOn file, I'm you will find the model number of my unit, the history of the problems and the replacement parts sent thus far per your warrantyPlease send, as soon as possible, the necessary replacement parts and any suggestions that you may have to once and for all rectify the problem. Also, it would be very much appreciated if you would include a check for at least the upcoming service call labor of $[redacted] [redacted] PS: Please do not have [redacted] contact or communicate with me I have found her to be rude, lacking in intelligence and unreasonable

From: [redacted] Sent: Tuesday, June 30, 2015 2:18 PM To: [redacted] Subject: Dear [redacted] I am responding to the complaint made by [redacted] that was filed with the Revdex.com against Z Line Kitchen and Bath, LLC.  Revdex.com complaint ID: [redacted] Mr. [redacted]'s contractor [redacted] purchased a range hood from us on July 10, 2013.   Once installed, Mr. [redacted] began having issues with parts on the hood melting due to being to close to the open flame on his grill.   From email logs and order logs,  I see that our former manager [redacted] was the one working with Mr. [redacted] on this issue.  It looks as if she had sent Mr. [redacted] replacement motors and parts to fix the issue.  She also states that he needed to raise his hood up so that it would not continue getting damaged from the open flame.  It looks as if there was a disagreement between the two parties on who was responsible for labor costs.   I talked to Mr. [redacted] in February on this matter and offered a full refund in exchange of our product.  He refused to send the product until he received the refund and could purchase another hood.  Our policy states that in order to get a refund we have to have the product returned and a refund will be issued within 48 hours.  Mr. [redacted] refused to these terms.  I also offered to pay him half a refund and once we received the product, I would pay the other half.  He disagreed with these terms as well.   ZLine Kitchen and Bath is willing to refund Mrs. [redacted] a full refund for the amount of his purchase, once we receive the product back.  We will also pay for the shipping for the return.  No other costs will be paid by ZLine Kitchen and Bath. Thank You, Annette W[redacted]
